It's frankly just a bit weird how underestimated we are. Yes, yes, transfer embargo, stayed up on goal difference, (and always ignore the fact that we weren't a relegation side by form for the entire second half of that season) but people talk as if it was David v Goliath. It's Millwall ffs. They overachieved by finishing third but when people talk about them in comparison to us it's like it was a cup tie against a PL side. Ridiculous. I know I talk a lot about wage bills but it is an objective measure and ours will be higher than theirs, and that is reflected in the quality of players we could bring off the bench and the match-winning moments of quality they could provide.

I know in some ways it's a compliment that people think we've hugely overachieved but in other ways I also find it very patronising.

Yeah it's pretty ridiculous. Particularly when we didn't surge into 6th from 12th or something, we were challenging for top two then dropped off.

A lot of last season was due to injuries to millar and Belloumi and having no striker really. But people act like our squad is cobbled together.

I think our fee restriction kind of shows how transfer fees aren't the be all and end all. Some teams like Chelsea churn through hundreds of millions every year and never get any better, while we last summer couldn't spend on fees but spent a lot on wages to get good players, wooed them with our ambition and the personal touch of the owner and built a far better squad than the one we had the year before when we did spend millions on transfer fees.

I think you’re doing exactly what you’re complaining about to Millwall here. They’re a good side, well organised, recruited very well over the past few seasons, got some great players and been in and around the top half a few years now haven’t they. If that exact same team and manager was say Leicester and we’d just knocked them out the playoffs I guarantee you would not be making that post.

Use finishing 6th is not as big a shock as people think. People just look at using finishing 21st and surviving on the last day of last season plus all the issues in summer

Our form under Ruben Selles was okay. We'd of finished about 13th if we'd had him all season.

Second of all we already had solid, experience, Championship players like Egan, Coyle, Slater, Crooks and then we added more in McBurnie, Ajayi, Lunstram anf Famewo. Both Giles and Gilhardt had big potential.

It was just people doing no research and being lazy.

Seems obvious to me we’re losing the final to a team already knocked out
Shades of 1990 Play-off final

Swindon vs Sundeland...Match ended 1–0.
Swindon Town were later demoted two divisions after being found guilty of financial irregularities which resulted in Sunderland gaining promotion. On appeal, Swindon's punishment was reduced to immediate relegation back to the Second Division.

For financial irregularities replace with spying.. For Swindon replace with Southampton....For Sunderland replace with Hull City AFC.
But we're going to win. I hope.
