Try as I might, I really can't get excited about Saturday. Our form over the last 9 games would have us relegated, Norwich have won 4 of their last 5 away games, players dropping like flies plus we haven't won our final game of the season for 20 years. Even if we somehow do it, can you really see us beating Southampton, Ipswich or even Boro on their current upturn in form?

Time to stop kidding ourselves methinks.

(BTW I will be there).

Totally agree with you Ehab. But, regardless, I like most of the people on this board hope the team will do a typical City and come blazing back into form to shock us all. With Coyle sticking his every cross on Ollies head, Semi not having a brain fart that leads to a Norwich goal, Millar making all the right decisions-crossing perfectly when he needs to and shooting when there is only one place the ball is going-in the goal, Pandur arrowing every kickout at the feet of one of our players, Crooks not getting sent off, Lundstrum pinging passes upfield like Tom Huddlestone, and McBurnie becoming best pals with the Ref. Oh and Koumas coming on and scoring our fourth goal.

I'm the complete opposite. I'm excited about Saturday, it's possibly the last game of the season and it's meaningful, do or die, whatever. Don't see how anyone can be not excited about it.
Even if it's the last call this season, UTT!

The only thing im not excited about is going to prodigy the night before, now I need to get up early and find a way to get home hanging out my arse in time for kick off.

Shoulda been 3pm Sunday.

I've been very cynical about the last week or two after everything that's happened but I do think this game is different. When it's all on the table in a do or die home game on the last day of the season I think it almost guarantees a particular type of atmosphere and performance. Not saying we'll do it but I'd be very surprised if we don't play with a lot of intensity and desire, with loads of noise in the ground and plenty of action. Two years ago under Rosenior home games were famously quite unsatisfying affairs in front of an unenthusiastic crowd but that all changed when we had that big game against Ipswich in our last home game, the atmosphere was incredible and the team matched it with their performance, even though we only drew.

We have to forget about the collapse now and just focus on the scenario we're now in which is one game to make the playoffs in a straight shootout against Wrexham. That should be a mouthwatering prospect for anyone.

Classic nothing to lose situation.

We ought to be excited (even though the potential prize of promotion fills me with apathy)

I just don't like things being out of our hands. That’s why I can't get excited. Maybe just me. Even if we do sneak a win it may well be for **** all.
Blimey, talk about glass half empty!

Lie back, close your eyes and imagine...

10 to 5 Saturday afternoon, ref blows the final whistle, City with a scrappy but hard-fought win 1-0, courtesy of a Gelhardt header off the keeper's arse.

That puts Derby out of the frame.

Wrexham are all square with M'boro, 4 mins of added time to go...

Feel the tension rising?

2 mins to go, M'boro on the break down the right, Whittaker puts the ball on the penalty spot, Strelec header...

Off the foot of the post. Bollocks!

Now Longman picks up the loose ball, hoofs it forward to Windass, bearing down on the keeper...

Excited yet? Eyes shut behind the settee?

Windass chips the keeper from the edge of the 18yd box, off the crossbar!

Ref blows time, we're in the playoffs :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0102-bigsm :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Just to add fuel to the fire of the Millar debate, did anyone else see McBurnie and Crooks having a right dig at him when for the umpteenth time he got on his greedy bike and shot hopelessly wide with players in support in better positions, I got the sense they are getting pissed off with Mr spectacular, he needs to remember he is part of a team.

Firstly let me say (well, done Ernie, remembering how to start off talking meaningless bollocks from your How to be a Politician course), that I don't think we're in pole position to get into the playoffs, but things are most definitely IN OUR OWN HANDS (Umm, Ernie, no need to shout - Err, sorry, but it's beginning to annoy me now).

What's the definition of not being in your own hands? (in a football context obvs, I'm not referencing some pervy Gentleman's relief stuff here).

It means that there's a result (or set of results) that means regardless of what result you achieve, it's rendered impossible for you to succeed.

But, there's no such result.

We simply need to win (and assuming that they also win), better Wrexham's result by one goal.

In what way is that not in our hands?

Let's clear this up. It's doing my ****ing nut in every time I read that it's not in our hands.

Is it out of our own hands?

Genuine question i keep asking myself.
Yes it is as all Wrexham have to do is match us a d better Derby.
But all we have to do is win with a better goal difference then Wrexham so it is in our hands
