Sunderland have written some incredible scripts over the last couple of years and this is up there.

To have done the double, in the PL, is impressive but to manage that in a derby is phenomenal.

Not only because we went above Newcastle, not only for the 6 points but the effect it will have on them for months.

There'll come a time when this becomes just a fond memory so I'm watching the match, and other content, now while it's still exhilarating. There are endless Newcastle teenagers who've grown up waiting for revenge and won't believe this happened, they'll know Sunderland are the NE top dogs. Now they have to wait until next season and hope they can finally beat us ...

... but we all know they'll secretly be dreading it, absolutely wonderful.

There will be young kids absolutely baffled as they are too young to remember or been around when we were in the premier league and the 6 in a row etc... they won't know how long its been since they beat us and all they will have heard is ****e from mag adults around them!

Been told we are ****e a joke etc... us actually being as far down as getting beat by ****e teams in league 1, that fa cup game and then they will have heard how its 6 easy points for them. They would have been expecting easy wins and who can blame them when ya have adults like the it'll be 10-0 fella!

Well if not this season maybe next.
There's that old adage of teams getting found out.
But not under Regis I think.

It's been a hard few years since we slipped from the premier League.
The hope of ever getting anything to compare with those days of Reid with Quinn and Phillips etc seemed a pipe dream.
But for me this is up there and probably better.
Ok we didn't win promotion with record points but overcome the worst part of our history to go on and secure a premier League place when all others fail, and smash the mag bastads home and away.
And the players man. I love the fookin players.
I was gutted for Luke slipping and miss kicking the ball. But by fook what comeback on their own back yard.
That unfortunate mistake was testament to the squad to fight back and you get what you deserve.
Luke O'Nien, first premier League start and a win against them coonts away. Magic.

Spot on. A lad I know, older (like me) and fairly reasonable, told me last week he was completely boiled up about it. In his own words he was "f***ing dreading it".

He thought they would win, but said it was more about it having to happen some day. He's a good judge mind. When I pressed him he said that they would get an early goal, maybe even two but they would blow out and struggle in the second half.

I've seen him today. He's a good lad so no slaver from me, but he just rolled his eyes and shook his head. "F***ing groundhog day" was his judgement.

He doesn't go now because of the Saudis, but the feeling hasn't left him, which I understand. He says he is mightily sick of watching them " running into walls".

It was interesting talking to Xhaka's guests and Talbi's parents at SJP...

... even more to see KLD, his brother, Ghisolfi, etc, chatting at the side of the pitch, during the warm-up, in their sunglasses and nice shirts.

It got me wondering about the atmosphere around SJP and how guests, visitors, players families, etc, are greeted.

As they don't have owners who can actually show their face, in the stadium, who are people welcomed by?

Is it 'tan in a can man' Jason Tindall or is he too busy with his matchday masterplan or is it a famous ex-player like Joey Barton perhaps? Does this affect the players knowing their guests are being shown to their box by 'Vicky' with her lanyard so people actually know she's staff? Who do they have a drink with after the game, do they have a video call to Saudi?

I'm sure the KLD party would've looked after the players entourages and had some nice selfies for them to show off ...

... but the Mags guests would've just drifted away not knowing if the hard working PIF investors were there, in Saudi or actually exist.

Intriguing.

Putting aside the fact he wanted to live in Newcastle (not the first Sunderland player) another for the auto subs.

Not one who will hang around when a 'bigger' club comes calling I fear.
As long as he leaves us in a better place than he arrived I’m fine about that. We will have a succession plan in place

I think we are, pure and simple, ran better,

we have the right men in, in the right roles running the club. We have an owner that cares and tuns up reguarly, even Juan turns up.

We have an owner that didnt promise the world,
doing things correctly.
sorting stuff out on and off the pitch

updating the SoL and surrounding areas
improvements to the merch
food and drinks at the SoL
sorting out the ticket office (yes still some issues but getting better)
Doing more to include fans ( legends way for example)

KLD's 5 year plan was to get us into the PL., we did it in 4 and now moving onto the next phase of that,

what have the mags got since their takeover?
1 cup and 2 CL seasons.

no shinny new stadium, no new badge, no new training ground/acadmey, no new transport links or improvements to match days?

I think there could be more into these rumours that PIF are bored and are looking to sell,

I'd add social media content to that list too. The admin we have now are right on their game, and in this online world clicks matter. The exposure we are getting will attract people to us from all around the world (see the Mexican stuff this year for example) as well as capture the next generation of local fans.

All the Saudis have to do is say,

‘Oops we’ve been caught out and PIF is actually us, if it wasn’t for those pesky kids we’d have got away with it.’

Then they can flog the club without having to lose face or explain to the supporters …

… then the Mags can revert to normal, blame the ‘cartel’ and the Premier League.

Perhaps that’s why the new man was brought in, to engineer the ‘takeover’.

and with the Ireland stuff for St Paddy's day too
