Great result and one I completely didn't see coming both when I woke up this morning and when the team sheet was announced.

Was the opposite to Wednesday night in that I don't think anybody played poorly. If I had to pick a best player I'd probably say Downes but I thought everybody did really well.

That save from Peretz in the first half was astonishing. Alan Blayney-esque.

Penalty was soft as ****, even Cov fans afterward said never a pen. Glad it didn't cost us.

Charles made a tackle/interception at 2-1 which was absolutely exceptional. Undoubtedly as good as a goal.

Word for Manning as although I felt he was rightly dropped for Wellington he's been excellent since coming back into the team and was again today.

Loaning out Bree in the summer seems dafter and dafter by the week.
Manning and Bree are my fave players at the moment because of the redemption arcs they're on. Guess you can add Stephens and Downes too, but the two full backs have made a massive difference in both defence and attack.

On another note, Matsuki is only one goal away from equaling Scienza's haul for the season, despite playing less than half the minutes. Ninja.

He’s got a great footballing brain. Knew exactly where to stand so the ball would deflect off him into the goal

Loaning Bree out, simply choosing not to play Matsuki and not addressing the goalkeeper situation until half way through the season.

These are choices our club made.

Yay go SR!

Just think where we would be if they hadn’t made those choices? Nailed on for autos and battling for the title.

When we got on the bus to go back to the train station, a woman gave us a seriously dirty look (if looks could kill!!) and then got up to ask the driver if away fans were allowed on “our” bus. When he said yes I gave her a lovely smile as she went marching back to her seat. She was not happy <laugh>
Should have parked their bus at the ground.

Matsuki goal record really showing Fellows up tbh.

Also is he the first multi club success story for us?

I still think he was looking for the incoming aerial cross as the ball glanced gently off his foot into the goal.

Bree's ability to put the ball into troublesome areas for defenders is yet another reason the banishment to Charlton seems very odd.

<laugh> The ITV commentators on the highlights described it as a “deft touch to turn the ball in” or words to that effect.

You jest, but he scored from the same position against QPR. While these goals look 'easy', it still has a lot to do with movement/positioning/finding space. Scoring directly from a corner is not an easy thing to do at all, especially under the nose of the keeper.

Yesterday's goal was mostly a big slice of luck, though haha, I'll give you that.

Yep, the percieved "clique" have been great for us during this current run and it feels to me that the team spirit is getting close to Adkins' Championship team.
THB is getting back to the form that saw his England call up and is my player of the last two months.
Bree is the best thing NJ did for us.

For the first time I'm concerned that we might actually make the play offs :(

The more you practice the better your luck.

To be honest I’m not really sure I want us to get in the play offs and get promoted. The premier league is so rigged for the bigger and richer teams I really can’t be bothered

Go yo-yo, collect parachute payments, occasionally beating one of the 'big' clubs. There's always the possibility that with wise investments of a protracted run in the top flight.

Said last time around; it would be nice to win promotion & then decline. It’s so difficult financially to make the progression nowadays. Having said that, at least this time we wouldn’t have Russball & Tonda might be able to make a mark with this team plus a few additions. Still, long way to go. Wednesday will be another “marker”.
