Simple. Because the keeper blocked his shot and it was then nowhere near going in .. until their defender kindly directed it into the back of the net.Joseph - can’t start a fire without a spark, Kyle Joseph’s on fire. Haven’t seen a replay so don’t know why he wasn’t credited with the first, but he literally ran himself into the ground. He’s a real talent and so delighted he’s come good this season.
Gelhardt - another who works like dog, has a great brain, skilful and when he’s in a goalsciring position, it goes in the back of the net.
Slater - bit anonymous at the start but gre into it and fabulous headed goal. Why wasn’t he willing to step forward to get the fans’ acclaim?
As someone else said, a lucky boy. On another day, it doesn't fall into the defenders path and we're all saying, ffs he should have finished that, and we maybe don't go on and win and the mood around him is quite different. It was a well timed run, but a poor 'finish'. He works hard, and maybe deserves a bit of luck for that, but he just isn't technically very good. It's to be hoped McBurnie doesn't get injured coz neither Joseph nor Destan are anywhere near good enough to cover for him imo..
