Politics and who we favour personally has become so much more transparent than it used to be,don't you think?

I remember asking my old man who he voted for( as a 15 year old kid some 50 years ago)... "Mind your own business" was his short, sharp reply.

Can't remember a lot of arguing about politics between individuals in those days and although politicians were crystal clear in their goals and stance,it was far more civil and respectful than it is now...

You make a good point there, Ric - without (hopefully) straying too far from the no-politics rule i think today politics is just a popularity contest and not about doing what's right for the country. I'll end it there.

PS apologies to mods if that's over-stepped the mark.

I think it's a very reasonable and well constructed post and of course it's 100% accurate..

It will. If you read other clubs forums where political comments are allowed it's a ****show. You can sense the undercurrent of animosity amongst the posters even when they are discussing non-political topics. Keep politics off the forum - we have enough animosity just on football matters!!!!

Just have politics thread, like we have cooking ones amongst others And if you don’t want to read the politics thread don’t click on it. Or is that too simple?

You'd think that'd solve the issue wouldn't you but these days so many people seem to take issue with others over any non-political views if they know that person doesn't agree with them politically. As Ric mentioned, many people have lost the ability to reason or accept other opinions if it differs from their own.

It'd be good if we could do that, and there have been some threads about major political events that have on the whole been civilised and informative.

Sadly, experience has shown that a general politics thread would leak into others, if not directly political, the differences between some posters has an impact.

Because they generally get cleaned up, many posters won't see them, nor will most posters see the PM's they generate.

As for 'don't click on it'...have you read this thread? <laugh>

A conversation from a long time ago with friends father. Although I have been a socialist all my life, I have never needed any of the benefits. Nor I have earned to get the tory tax breaks. It has never really mattered who was in power
