The current regime are using the same tactics that John Hall, and others, have used for years ...

... attempt to bully the council into funding their move or trample all over listed buildings and parks.

As a result of the Leazes Park petition the council will know that not every Geordie is prepared to sell themselves for the 'local' Saudi owned football club.
If previous Newcastle United owners had been even a little far sighted they would have purchased alternative sites in the city when they were available. Two stand out to me: the Arena site that was bought by the Council and I believe is earmarked for housing and the former General Hosp[tal site on Westgate Road purchased by Newcastle University for £7,500,000 which is still being cleared of demolition. The building of new football grounds in this country over the last twenty years or so has always been done on brown field sites away from the existing ground. A recent example is Everton's new ground which was not built on the adjacent Stanley Park but is a riverside development. Leazes Park is a protected site, much used and a valuable inner city green space, it should not be any part of plans to build a brand new or extended St. james Park.

They’re building loads of nice new stadia in Saudi for the World Cup. These problems they’re facing building in or around Newcastle could allow them to leverage it for the first overseas football franchise.

Just in case anyone isn’t aware of the petition set up to save a historic Victorian city centre park from the bulldozer

I've seen the pictures of that gig, why the **** are so many of the brain dead twats wearing mag shirts/kits as if it was going to watch that lot play on a match day? It's weird ****ing behaviour for a twat who just happened to be born on Tyneside who's never shown any football allegiance or interest before.

When you think that people like the likes of Sting, Mark Knopfler, Brian Johnson, Neil Tennant, Hank Marvin, a big chunk over the Animals come from there, yet they never made a big thing of it, yet this poundshop Bruce Springsteen imitation from bloody Teemu is treated as the biggest thing the area ever produced. Rant over, I'm having a few beers, but had to vent my spleen for a bit!

Tell you what, this is how he spoils himself mind. Fancy pandering to Geordies when you're from Shields. Odd and weird.
