What a feeling, did yesterday really happen? Still doesn't feel real, we are back where we belong

I had so many mates message saying how buzzing they were that we were back and saying it's been a long 8 years but it's been longer. We stayed in the PL for 10 years but most of those years it was just surviving, no future planning, very few exciting prospects and just crap for most of the season then a great escape. To then drop to L1 was something I'd never imagine, to then have those 2 chancers running our club to parkinson coming in - i thought my club had died, I thought how do we ever get back, what did the future hold.

Then the day happened, KLD came into the club and he brought Speakman with him. Those 2 have changed EVERYTHING about the club that means the world to me, everything.

They had a plan and stuck to it, making minor tweaks along the way but the plan and vision didn't change no matter the abuse they got. Did they get everything right, no - the Beale appointment was a shocker but i think it also helped refocus the plan. They took their time and appointed the man almost perfect for our plan and vision - RLB!!!

I used to see people say they had no ambition because they wouldn't just splash the cash, that we can't win anything or achieve anything with youngsters - both are/were total bull!!! Ambition isn't about spending loads of money, Will Grigg wasn't an ambitious signing, it's about doing something different, going against the norm and committing to it - they did that and now we are back where we belong

Next season will be tough, yes we are favourites to finish 20th, but just to have us back in the PL is what this club needs. The only way we can establish ourselves in the PL is being back in the PL - i can't wait to see what happens and what we do

Soak it up fellas, we have had years of s**te but the future is bright, the future is red and white

Ha'way the lads

<applause><applause><applause><applause><applause>.

Yes very briefly but all you get to see is a fleeting glimpse of my bald head <laugh><laugh>
I was in front and to your right and think I was the only guy there wearing the black inclusivity top.
I remember seeing you there because of the top you were wearing. You walked past me at one point during the evening….as I say noticeable due to the top.
In your Facebook video there’s a brief glimpse of Mrs Krankie and Able Seaman Krankie.
I was there for the League 1 POF as well but I can only describe Saturday night as euphoric.

Flippin Tremendous Man!!!

The 85 pages attest to a thorough exploration of the game, the experience, key moments, case for VAR and the incomprehensible rubbish commentary so nothing for me to add other than the a brief outline of my\our journey 24th May, 2025.

Got away at 3.45am in light drizzle in the Cheshire plain, so scarves not flapping in the slipstream a la '73 (if I'd had a car) - parcel shelf display - smooth run boosted by avoiding the M6 Toll - breakfast in Claygate with grandson and his Dad having bid farewell to the ladies for the day.

Visit to RHS Wisley , first time but great displacement activity for anxious, nervous, nauseous types like what I am - Grandson entertainment delegated to me and my beard, apparently... Midday and twitchy/anxiety 'cos we're deep into 40 acres - like a maze when you don't need or want anything to do with a maze - eventually find the car parks which seem to have mutiplied.. storming about at a maximum 1.25mph in what seemed a Heathrowesque airpark in the making - the car was not where it should be - Kafkaesque/The Prisoner level of paranoia kicking in - we split up - after 25mins I stop searching in the wrong place and find it in the right place 12.50. Slight wrinkle is no sign of the eldest, buggy or grandson - further wrinkle, my phone in my jacket under said buggy (Munch emoji).

1pm Eldest strolls up exuding calm and control. Smoothish run into Wimbledon Team news, Roberts and Isidor on the bench - Get parked near property refurb 'cos there's a couple of things he has to do - table booked in the pub for 2.30 - grandson sound asleep as per nap schedule under a shady towel with the motor running - me delegated as responsible adult.

2.35 Finally allowed to head for pub 15mins away - arrive 20mins late - table still held but slight wrinkle, everyone watching the rugby (The Scream emoji). But there's a proper old fashioned unrefurbished pub with non nonsense old fashioned landlady tucked away in a back street near the Wandle -we'd christened The Sports Pub 'cos it was easier - using his phone to find the back street (good grief!) the three of us are ushered into back room hosting a mssive projector screen and 5 local regulars - 2.59 - pints.

Youngest son still a tad delicate after the meningitis but evetually racks up halfway through the second half with the just delivered 121' 59" 'TIL THE END T - shirts and the rest is history.

Scenes.

What an Academy we have going on at our club.
Young Tommy costs us nowt, we sell him for £20m? then to put the icing on the cake with the last kick of his Sunderland career he goes and earns the club £220+m.

This is pure Roy of the Rovers stuff and is unbelievable Jeff.

Technically we got a world record fee of £240million for Tommy.

I was one saying ‘don’t give him a shirt’ but I’ll swallow them words for all eternity.

Me too I was so dissapointed on his leaving , the way he did it and the timing, I'v been watching him for 2 to 3 years now and have been so looking forward to him playing first team football , it was always just a matter of time.

Aye. Shame to hear him say in the moment ‘I’ll see you next year in the PL’ cos we absolutely won’t.

Those 2 touches before he gave ball to Enzo mind, and that finish, we will at some point.

One thing that gets mentioned a lot about Speakman is how arrogant he appartently is but one thing was noticeable on Saturday - he kept such a low profile after we won

There was no this is all down to me type attitude, which would have been easy to do with the amount of abuse he's had (all the speaksh*te stuff on twitter). That to me tells me everything i need to know about the man, he is focused on the job and seems to be the type that doesn't want to stand still as he knows there lots to keep doing

Not possible to argue with that mind. He just gets on with it, and we get the benefit.
