I feel like I might have come across the wrong way when I said we'd need better, it was purely from an aspect of talking to people at the club and the transfer front certainly seems more ambitious this year regardless of promotion.

Ill have a think though (not really too clued up on players specific wages?):
Hugo Bolin
Miguel Rodriguez would have been available for £1m had he not already agreed to go to Utrecht (think that shows the quality out there)
Jacob Trenskow
Serginho at Viborg
Benjamin Nygren contract expiring
Kwame Poku is free - can then offer more in wages that offsets the difference in fee.
Jamie Donley a good option on the right or through the middle.

Not a bad list at all, but: Rodriguez already gone and Donley not a winger, as you've said.

Serginho has done great this season and I doubt he'd be available for a 7 figure fee.
Hugo Bolin linked with Frankfurt with the fee likely closer to €6-8m.
Kwame Poku, great shout but probably lots of Championship competition.
Ben Nygren linked to Serie A.

Anyway, more importantly, compiling a list like this, especially of players you've actually watched and assessed can be tough.

wow. cannot believe Burnley are losing Egan-Riley, to Strasbourg of all places. Wow.

Was looking forward to seeing him in the premier league next season

Chelsea looking for a new place to stash young talent. Least they’ve finally decided that they can’t fit any more in their own squad I guess!

Of course, I've watched all these players thankfully so feel I am in a good position to assess them. I will have to stick to my original point though as you listed some pretty poor championship players and if we want to be challenging for automatic promotion they wouldn't cut it.

Doak would be nice but think he'll be kept around or sent to a higher level next season.

If there's championship competition for a player and we aren't able to attract them then we probably wouldn't deserve to be as high up next year.

ffs I know you're tongue in cheek but now you say it thats exactly what they're doing. And it sucks.
They spend Strasbourgs money on players they want to sign in the future, unfortunately yeah it is 100% what's happening.

While its ****e, at least it's better for the players involved in their human trafficking scheme as they actually get to develop.

Scottish clubs don’t consistently embarrass themselves in Europe. They have embarrassing times, like a lot of clubs but Rangers have had a good record in Europe recently. This is their overall figures since 2018…
P97 W42 D28 L27

Europa League
P79 W39 D24 L16

Champions League
P18 W3 D4 L11

Poor champions league record but they’re solid in the Europa.

I’m sure Celtic were through to the knockout stages this season for the first time since it has become the champions league.
There's more to Scottish football than rangers and celtic. The others barely win a match

Could it also lead to further investment? It has always been the talk in takeover circles that there are those willing to do a deal or put money in at Sunderland but to match Louis-Dreyfus’ terms the club needed to be back in the Premier League. It will be fascinating to see whether anything happens there but the Netflix series Sunderland ‘Til I Die has given them profile in America, even inspiring Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney to invest in Wrexham. Let’s just put it this way – their rise would be a welcome new plotline Stateside.

Yeah, I agree Scottish teams apart from Celtic and Rangers, probably, embarrass themselves in Europe. Not that I can think of any embarrassing results for the likes of Motherwell or Kilmarnock.
