Well, first off, I'm glad that I don't have to endure the mind-numbing ball retention stuff under Rosenior.
Then, being honest, no, I'm not "more entertained" .... just yet.
However, I understand how it's going to take a while for us to gel and get properly up to speed. No need to regurgitate what Benjo has already eloquently posted.
I'm fairly confident that it will come, and that in coming weeks & months I will be far "more entertained" and that we will be challenging at the right end of the table.
This is an absolutely massive rebuild. Patience is needed. Having said that, I expect we will see significant progress even through these next 3 games.
" mind numbing ball retention under rosenior".…thought it was just me who saw it!!!

He starts zambrano v millwall and leeds
Then we have a 2 week break
And he doesnt make a minute

Whats that about?

This is one of the things about the current situation that looks like a huge red flag to me; the seemingly desperate chopping and changing in that position with no obvious pattern. I think people expect big new signings to be eased into the team and then stay there. But Zambrano is in and then out again and we've already tried four or five players in that position now. At left back it's always seemed like Giles' spot to lose but he gets dragged off every week like the manager isn't happy with him. Presumably Drameh will be starting there before long. Slater is in and out and maybe back in again. We sign all these keepers and still play Pandur. Other players we sign are nowhere to be seen. It just doesn't seem predictable or smooth in any of these positions. Seems like the desperate, reactive thrashing of someone who's really struggling.

How do people keep saying this when this is exactly what Walter wants us to do? Our back 5 had 400 passes against Sheff Utd..!! They just pass amongst themselves!

There's a lot of talk about the poor final ball, and rightly so, but it frustrates me a bit that people seem to think it's a new problem. I feel like I've watched us get into good crossing positions a few times a game every week for the last three years whilst barely ever actually finding a City player with the cross. Just seems like a part of this club's DNA that our final ball will always be crap.

I can see possible reasons for all of those changes and selections. Pandur deserves to keep his spot, Giles should be making it his own but isn't for whatever reason, Slater is deserving of being on the bench, and Zambrano is possibly close to a lengthy ban. None of them are clear-cut.

I thought Drameh put some nice low ones in when he came on. He's definitely a starter for me.

Did any of them find a City player?

Walter seems to like him so I think he will be starting soon, but looking back at the highlights he was part of the problem on the second goal, outfought for the aerial ball that sets off their counter before Millar was also outfought.

Even in kids' development football, I see players' positions almost fixed. These are kids under 10 too. Not sure if this is the case in professional clubs' academies - perhaps someone can shed some light. But definitely in grassroots, in my experience of it anyway.

In the professional game, I can only think of a few example in the past (I'm sure there are more but not that many). Chris Sutton; Paul Warhurst; Peter Swan - all CB to CF (with the latter think that was just with us). Windass CM - CF. Didn't Magennis start as a GK?
Cloughie was good at spotting these, kenny burns was the stand out, from striker to Centre back. Also John o’Hare (forward to midfield), Bowyer (winger to midfield engine room).
Closer to home, Ian Mckechnie (started as an Arsenal winger), Nick Deacy (striker to centre back). A few played midfield and full back… Gordon Nisbet Gary Swann, Neil Mann but suspect they were just ‘versatile’ rather than changing positions.

Shearer was in the Gosfortharea of Newcastle upon Tyne,[5] the son of Anne and sheet-metal worker Alan Shearer. His parents were working class. His father encouraged him to play football in his youth, and Shearer continued with the sport as he progressed through school. He was educated at Gosforth Central Middle School and Gosforth High School. Growing up, he played on the streets of his hometown and was originally a midfielderbecause "it meant [he] could get more involved in the games".[6]

Closest I can think of is Saka starting as LB for Arsenal and becoming a RW but not sure if he was playing LB out of necessity rather than actual position.
