The trouble is, Russ believes that the style creates “more positive outcomes than negative”.

So far it’s cost us two goals, and we’ve not scored any. So right now, I’m afraid that doesn’t stack up.

Fernandes for Will is a must. At half time please. Still something in this game for us, and it’s lovely having Ramsdale back there.

Yeah the contrast between the two teams going forward is big. Their vision, passing, and speed is something we haven't shown at all this season.
And let's not ignore the fact they are playing the same way we are. Possession football that is supposed to transition quickly into attack. Theirs works.

But they also aren't all that good - so this is going to be one hell of a long season if we don't start to adapt.

I thought Aribo was quite good and worked well with Diaz. We have created chances but not taken them. But we cannot give away so many unforced errors. Archer for Armstrong and Fernandes for Smallbone please.

Those are the two subs I'd make too but can't see him making two HT changes.

Surely Will has to go off at a minimum though.

I would get Armstrong off too. Not contributing anything up front.

Martin obviously really wants that move to Bayern next summer!

Sorry, people are going to say this is better than last week but it isn't. We are doing exactly the same things. We are too slow coming forward. We don't have the runs and when we do we ignore them. Our passing just isn't very good.

That goal wasn't THB's fault. Why was it pinged back to him there for halfway? We need to have more courage to go forward or just hold the ball.

This particular XI is not good enough for this league.

AA is miles out of his depth. Miles.

Still think it was better than last week going forward. We've created 3 chances for a start and at least one should have gone in.

Overall I still think that was far better than the first half last week. Offering more going forward.

Desperately lacking quality in final third though as we all know.

Smallbone has had a mare. Miles off the required standard and needs hooking at HT. Ideally for Fernandes.

Diaz strikes me as the stereotypical hot headed south American but without the talent based on 2.5 games so far. Early days though of course.

He’s from Nottingham

Every time a midfielder or attacker receives the ball they have their back to the Brentford goal. In contrast pretty much every pass to a Brentford striker is in front of him to run onto at pace, putting our back line under immense pressure, plus they have players breaking their necks to run beyond our defence for the cross field pass.
Their fan on TSP said that their weakness was the ball between the CB and FB yet our slow build up allows them to sit back and shut down the space behind them.
Smallbone has been awful and THB hasn’t been great and has a silly yellow card which could prove costly if we go to a back four and keep him on.
