What I dislike about these sort of debates is the way they (particularly Starmer in this case) dance around trying not to say certain things, rather than just coming out and saying the truth. They're so scared of saying something that could be construed as negative, that they don't get the positive message across. He should be making minced meat out of Sunak given the state the Tories are in, yet it seemed to me that neither of them said anything convincing.
Dreadful format, you'll never learn anything about policy in 45 second answers. All you get is scripted soundbites which will be clipped and blasted out on socials.
Everything Sunak promised sounded wonderful, no doubt about it ...
... sadly we've heard it all before and people have stopped listening imo.
This is all mildly entertaining but, in reality, we all know it's pointless ... Labour will be elected, it's just a matter of the number of seats.
Back to the thread subject.
Sky predicting a 194 majority for Labour.
I wonder if Reform will take seats from the Tories or make a dent in that majority.
If anything demonstrates the failure of all parties, it's that Nigel ****ing Farage is front and centre again in this vote.
This. That's not even symptomatic of a broken political system, it's symptomatic of a broken society.

I personally don’t think any of the parties have your best interested heart. I’m not sure if there’s a political party that I’ve ever known that will do what they say. About the system being outdated and antiquated just wont boycott it. if I thought boycotting would do any good I would do it unfortunately, I don’tDisagree.
Voting for one of the parties that don't have your best interests at heart isn't what gives you a right to complain about them not having your best interests at heart.
If people started boycotting (forget the Geordie spelling) the vote en masse, momentum might actually gather to fix what is now an outdated and not fit for purpose political system.
Participating just feeds the machine and keeps it relevant.
All opinion of course, I'm sure people would fundamentally disagree with me.
But positive change will only come from outside the system. It won't come from the people the corruption is feeding.
I don't think Kathy Burke will be voting for Farage!

Politics, nowadays, is only ever shouting matches mate. Have we had a worthwhile govt in the last 20+ years. It is rinse and repeat rubbish. We are about to embark on another cycle of depressing sound bites and promises that cant and wont be delivered. I tuned in then tuned out last night. Dumb and Dumber sprung to mind. We really need to be able to attract a better type of politician if we are ever going to get the government we deserve. When are the official manifestos published?
Seems a bit pointless having these shouting matches without each parties policies laid out
Burke is wrong there, as she frequently is on things. I like Kevin and Perry mind
He didn't break the system, he's just the most obvious symptom of it being broken.

Sunak is supposed to be an intelligent man but he seems to have real 'blind spots' in his rationale.
Of all the people he really shouldn't insult the D-Day veterans come top by some distance.
Running away from the Normandy beaches, to defend his previous lies, was cowardice laid bare.
And to compound the insult, in his mealy mouthed apology, he claims he's sorry if his departure overshadowed the day ...
... what a sad little clown.
Just imagine the misfortune to have had him as Prime Minister during WW2, would he have had the courage to order D-Day ... 'keine chance'
"This anniversary should be about those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
The last thing I want is for the commemorations to be overshadowed by politics.
"I care deeply about veterans and have been honoured to represent the UK at a number of events in Portsmouth and France over the past two days and to meet those who fought so bravely. After the conclusion of the British event in Normandy, I returned back to the UK. On reflection, it was a mistake not to stay in France longer - and I apologise."
Honestly its like he is trying to lose voters with some of his decisions, he's not a stupid bloke but think he may be a bit detached from real life. He lives in his own bubble and I think that is a big part of the issue with him.
