TBH I'm just going off what my dad used to tell me. IIRC we conceded 6 in each of his first 2 games, that would have been quite a shock to system at the time :emoticon-0102-bigsm
Yeah I’m too young too. How did we do in mowbray’s first 5 games? Can’t remember personally, but it wasn’t much better than in Beale’s if any. As we needed a 9 game winning streak or something to reach the play offs iirc

You dig at people who feel the need to mention every time he does something good, yet every time he does the opposite you have to mention it? Or even make something he has no involvement in about him? FFS, the irony of your comment is embarrassing

I really don’t. I mention him occasionally. If I pointed out every mistake he makes I’d not put my phone down for 90 minutes every Saturday :emoticon-0102-bigsm Did I not say he was the only one on the pitch against the mags who looked up for it? I could’ve said actually he went flying into numerous tackles like an absolute knacker and was nowhere near the ball but I didn’t.

Said yesterday I thought BOTH CB’s could’ve done better for the goal and that was all I said on the matter. After praising his block 5 minutes before. Very biased mind.

I don’t feel the need to give a running commentary on what every player does minute for minute, we’re all watching the game anyway..?

He has to earn that time though. He doesn't just get it as a given. He has been given the opportunity of a lifetime and he has to make an impact.

When you make an appointment like this, that the vast majority didn't want from the start, the impact has to be swift. That's the issue with making this type of appointment in the first place.

Is that the vast majority of this board, Twitter or the people who went to Ipswich yesterday ...

... answer is we've absolutely no idea.

Howe was adored at Bournemouth and derided at Burnley.

It's impossible to know whether or not a manager 'fits' imo.

O'Nien had good numbers in terms of blocks and recoveries yesterday. However, he won 1 aerial duel out of 4, that is simply not good enough for a CB. It's not like he is playing because of his passing ability either, Ballard attempted and completed more passes than O'Nien. It's time for Seelt.

How many wanted Mowbray when he signed? IIRC there was meltdown on social media etc.

Beale probably wasn’t “wanted” by many if any, but that would mainly be because most of us knew absolutely nothing about him. Those who are scathing about his appointment, would they rather we got a big name like Birmingham did? Do they expect us to go get Will Still? Who we also know nothing about but has better kudos up to now?

Sad that a manager is being hounded out before he’s even started. Makes fans look like idiots and, talking about signings etc, I wonder, if any of our potential signings looked on twitter, how they’d feel signing for a club with those fans? It’d certainly make me question it!

Hounding out a manager, before he's even arrived, is guaranteed to put off anyone with self respect taking the job in future ...

... Sunderland supporters are gaining a bit of a reputation, it's not a good look tbh.

nobody hounded out the last 3 managers imo so I don’t think that’s Fair. Also other than social media has they been any grumbling at games? I’ve not heard any.

Must admit it is slightly amusing knowing that people who have made a career out of slating O'Nien are getting themselves wound up when they see him getting praised on here.

If he does a good block I'll say so, if Patterson makes a great save or Ba does a great assist I'll do the same. As far as I'm aware it's pretty normal behaviour.

I'm beginning to wonder whether these young lads are beginning to believe their own hype. Too much strolling about 'watch me beat this man, do a trick, ole!

And it's the same mistakes every single time. Dallying on the ball and lazy when moving it on.
There's definitely an element of refusing to play the simple ball because it's too easy. There was a moment in the 1st half (and I forget who it was, possibly O9) where there was simple pass on to Hume in the RB slot, but the player twisted and turned and chopped back looking for a Hollywood ball before going back to the Hume pass when he was no longer in as much space.

I'm a firm believer that some of the best football can be the simplest football.

Sadly I agree totally with the bold bit!! And I agree A is not an option. Speakman, who a lot want gone, signed most of the players we now have on the pitch. Clarke, Roberts, Bellingham down to him. Signed Auchiche who was very highly rated at PSG. Ballard who is one of the best players in this division. Cirkin, Alese etc.

But he is being judged on our current results! I’m certainly not sure about Beale, but what’s the point in getting on his back as you’re getting on young players backs too, and the likes of Clarke etc will think “why play in front of hostile fans like that”. Pointless
I feel sorry for Adil, most can see he's quality, yes he had a nightmare yesterday but what's the point of taking off someone who probably our man after the match till them and replacing him with Adil who is a number 10 on the right wing.
Nothing excuses his miss but he's not a winger, I'm sure if we put Clarke at CB he would be ****.
I'm normally very optimistic about us just getting frustrated at the minute.
Jobe up front wasn't working,
Playing Pritchard where we did would have suited Rusyn more than anyone.
I know the coach lives by his decisions so it is down to him and he's got a hell of a lot more experience than me, however what is worrying me is he seems to be mirroring everything TM was doing when he'd ran out of ideas.
I'm prepared to give the bloke more time as he's not been here long enough, but if in another 5 games times we are still playing every game with the same set up, same style and not getting results then I will be very worried he's not capable of moving the club forward

Aye **** that. For all my concerns and issues I don’t feel that way.

Remember we are recovering from a living hell and for all that emotions get us sometimes and we have a bit to say, we are building, we are respected again at least, and there’s positives galore that do get overlooked heat of the moment.

Frustrated, yes. Concerns, yes. Disconnected? Not one bit.

It’s our club. When we sing Sunderland till I die we have to mean it, and we do.
Well said. Disconnected not at all not even under SD.
Have to admit though I'm feeling a bit down this morning.
My feelings frustration at wanting the best and Worries that we have taken a step backwards.

Under TM we had hit an impasse. Tactically we were stagnating but there wasn't anything massively wrong
just needed an injection of pace and urgency and some tactical tweaks to tighten the defense and start opening up teams.

Frustration because MB has come in and initially at least we seem to have taken a step backwards.
He has tried to tighten up the shape but has made us slow and predictable. No movement urgency or spontaneity
Said last night like watching a coaching session. Football by numbers.

Worries He has form at his previous club. Is this transition or is this his style of play.

Small margins I know and for most of last night there wasn't loads wrong but after a year of great entertaining football we just looked beige
Like a run of the mill mid table club.

What do we do. We need a good transfer window. Players can be young but we need them with experience to hit the ground running.
I also feel it was a massive mistake bringing in MB by himself to slot in with the existing setup. We needed someone with drive to shake things up and move us on. Didn't need to throw the baby out with the bathwater but needed someone who would challenge and change things.
Is it too late to bring in an assistant coach with a bit of character to shake things up.

Anyway Friday is another big game Lets see how things look beginning of Feb.
