I think this sums my feelings up... I'm sure Seri was looking after himself today (AFCON).... shirked everything. We have zero subs that influence or change a game. For the XYG stat men... how long did we spend in our half and of that how long did we have the ball in our half... Its just not ****ing working Rosenior. If you hadn't had Philogene before he was injured you'd be up **** creek.
Some truth in that last sentence. Maybe not **** creek, but no more than mid table mediocrity.
The post match implied collective blame put on the players, again, misses the point that Rosenior's game plan & decisions were pretty ****e again. Square pegs, too deep, cautious, negative; guess the plan was to bore them to death. The joy of Cardiff fast becoming a distant memory and no individual brilliance of Philogene to bail him out. I remain utterly unconvinced

I thought it was a poor first half. We moved the ball too slowly, Delap looked good but is wasted on the wing. He had acres of space but the ball was only passed out to him rarely, when they did we looked dangerous. Twine was poor on the other wing and the mid field had a tendency to disappear when Sunderland got the ball. We played much better in the second half, Lokilo was way better as an outlet on the right wing. I don’t understand the criticism some on here give him. We should have put one of the chances away and taken a deserved point.
Shame for such a big crowd to be served such a tepid performance.

Agree about Lokilo, I’m confused about the criticism, we looked far better after he came on.

To many judge him against a certain left footed winger we used to have who stepped inside and smashed it in the top corner every time he got it. I think a lack of overlapping right back sometimes curtails him as well.

Loads of **** things happened today, the first was giving the players Christmas Day off, then playing Sunderland’s song at the kick off, and ****ing muppets joining in with it, still pissing about with tippy tappy football, Sunderland just stood and watch us give it away, Rosenior disappearing into the dugout after they scored, then coming out clapping like a seal, as though that does any good.
Just ****ing dreadful, again.

By way of explanation:

Around 1980 I attended a gig, at Hull City Hall, with my then girlfriend, to enjoy the splendors of national-treasures-to-be Squeeze supported by the incomparable Wreckless Eric. Squeeze were good but Eric was magnificent, formidable, outstanding.

Waiting outside the venue for her Dad, a taxi driver, to pick us up, we were confronted by a run of the mill Hull pisshead, hellbent on picking a scrap with someone.

He stared me in the face, and screamed 'I'm a ****ing miserable bastard me, like'.

This is a bit of a no win situation. If you reply 'yes, you look the part', he's gonna deck you.

If you reply, 'oh no sir, you appear relatively happy to me', he's going to deck you anyway.

He decked me.

He then decked my girlfriend.

This, not unsurprisingly, led to an argument along the lines of I could have (a) handled the situation a bit better or (b) defended her a bit better.

Me pointing out that defending her a bit better was severely hindered by the fact that I was spark out at the feet of Queen Victoria cut no ice and we broke up in her Dad's taxi on the drive home.

I moved to Sunderland in 1986 and to Newcastle in 1992.

On innumerable occasions in the last 40 odd years I've met both Mackems and Geordies, who, with a drink inside them, will argue black is white, red is white, the Earth is flat, or Chemtrails are actually a thing, until they make that drunken knob outside the City Hall look like a considered and rational bloke.

Don't try to reason with them, it's not worth it.

I don’t think we were good today, but once again I’m surprised by the over reaction.

The first half was poor and I thought Sunderland’s midfield dominated. However I thought we were significantly better in the second half and really took control of the game. We missed a few chances and that was our undoing.

I thought we looked more likely to score when Lokilo came on and stretched the game. His link up play with Morton was particularly impressive. Over all I think we look far more threatening when we have proper width on the pitch. 1/2 wingers in the transfer window should be the priority.

I don’t think Rosenior got loads wrong today, but it mostly showed up our lack of squad depth.

Sounds like you need to see a counsellor tbh.

It seems like you’re carrying a lot of baggage around with you. Time to let go…

The criticism of Lokilo is as baffling as the praise some (on twitter) are heaping on Vaughan. He does need to go outside more often, its so obvious what JL is going to do every time he gets it, but we had a few half chances created down that right wing in the second half and he didn't do too badly

Reactions: Drew
as we haven't a decent left back Rosie thought he would play without one for a change - doooh

whilst it was very frustrating I thought Slumberland played us well by squeezing us and messing up our game - having said that we contributed in messing up our game as well

<laugh> I spent 4 years living in Hendon and The Garth's.

Too right I've got baggage!

Although, I will say that the pubs in Sunderland at the time, were fantastic.

Used to use the Brewery Tap, Museum Vaults and Saltgrass regularly.

Brilliant boozers.

And don't get me started on the Ku Club.

No idea what you’re talking about <laugh>

Sunderland is the kind of place where the kids bite the dogs. I only ever go for the football. I don’t really know the place at all and don’t think I’ve actually got any Mackem friends.

Shopping, nights out, meals… Always go to Newcastle.
