That would be massive loss for us that. Ballard and Clarke are the two that are simply way above the standard of the league.

Better side start to finish. Once we went ahead it was never in doubt. Dan Neil is a rolls Royce in this division. Certainly better than Henderson was at that age.

Why? Comfortably finish for him. Hemir too eager to score fir himself from a difficult position. I’d prefer a player to get upset about someone else ballsing up a good chance. Rigg would’ve buried it too.
Little arrogance in a young lad is a good thing as long as it’s controlled.
Comfortable finish for Clarke? He went past the man and dangled his leg to win the penalty. It was as soft as the one the mags got.
Rigg went over the top in my opinion.
Id add dan neil to that as well, said to my dad yesterday that those 3 just stand out every time i watch us play now
I watch a lot of the other teams in our league play as well and those 3 walk into every team in the championship, i honestly believe that
All 3 will likely be PL players nxt season with or without us, thw good thing is ballard n neil signed contracts recently so we should receive good money for them both
If clarke ends up wigh 20 goals this season hes going for big money

Was talking about Rigg mate. I know exactly what Clarke did. It was borderline cheating, but very clever. Rigg had an easy finish behind Hemir was my point fella.
I understand and don’t mind Rigg’s reaction. I think most if it would be emotion. Probable First goal in front of a 40k crowd at 16? Wonder how we’d react in that situation.
Beat me to it re Neil. He is so much better than Henderson was at that age too. (And I liked Henderson, past tense due to his current situation and locality)
Shows how much impact that red card, which shouldn’t have been according to the pgmol, had on the next game as well as the second half of that one
I understand where the kid is coming from, but I'd hope Mowbray puts him in his place.
Hemir didn't react in the same way when JC didn't square it to him for what should have been a tap in.
No Mayenda in any of this weekends squads. Hopefully they are dipping him in and out until he's fully fit.
Can’t have a match thread without me mentioning the officials! Particularly the east stand linesman. Who, after their goal and the deserved abuse he took from the crowd, appeared to be playing “it’s my ball, and you’re not getting it”. Miles offside, no challenge from Huggins as he knew, goes fir the ball, then leaves it.

Mowbray explained: "It's a very, very minor setback. I think he probably could have been on the bench but if he's telling the medical department he's feeling his hamstring a little bit, even though he finished the whole training session on Friday, I made the call.
"If he's feeling his hamstring and telling the medical department, I don't think it's worth the gamble.
"He's nearly there, he's nearly ready, he's done three or four full training sessions and played an Under-21s game against Hibs.
"He'll be in and around it over the next week or two, I'm sure. It just wasn't worth the gamble of throwing him in if he's feeling anything, so we left him out."

TONY Mowbray felt his Sunderland side got what they deserved against Norwich City, and was particularly pleased with his side's show of character in recovering from a goal down to end their winless stretch….
Mowbray said: "I think it was the right result for the way the game went.
"It felt a little bit here we go again when they scored, I don't think they'd been in our half up until that point and yet we're a goal behind.
"We showed great character to get in front before half time, with some really good, positive front-foot play. It was important for us, I thought it was harsh on us to have lost three games - there were some okay performances in there.
"You have to take it on the chin when you lose and what was important for us was to keep the confidence up. We showed them a lot of clips of the Leicester game and the rewards of playing on the front foot. We did that well today, suffocated them for long spells and it wasn't really until the last 15 that they asked questions of us, and then in that period we could have scored more goals on the break."
Despite dominating early on, Sunderland fell behind in controversial fashion. A forward pass was aimed in the direction of Gabriel Sara, who was clearly offside, with Pierre Ekwah stopping in expectation of the assistant raising his flag. But Sara didn't touch the ball and allowed Kellen Fisher to overlap and tee up Hwang.
Mowbray said: "I had a chat with Pierre, not an angry one, but just a chat about what happened.
"He's waiting for the linesman to put his flag up and the full back comes bombing past. He wasn't offside and he got caught. For me, it's fine, it's a lesson.
"I didn't knock too much confidence and belief, I think they felt they were on top and dominating. We did a lot of work on breaking down deep blocks and we did. It would be nice for our strikers to score, but we got it done. We deserved it, our performances have warranted wins and today it definitely did."
Sunderland now have a full week to prepare for next Saturday's trip to Swansea City.
Mowbray said: "I'm looking forward to having a week now to prepare for the next game.
"I was pretty confident that the players were still confident. I talk to our analysts a lot and I wanted lots of positive clips from the games we didn't win, to make sure they didn't forget that this is a good team and we're going to win a lot of games. Yes we have to learn from defeats, but we want them to stay positive."

Agreed and a learning point for him.
Fortunately it came in a game we won - also I thought he had an excellent game that split second decision apart.
Going to be a very good player in future imo.
Apart from 45 minutes, down to 10 men against boro, have we been outplayed and obviously deserved to lose this season? Thats progress.

Yeah 100%. Was solid and looked to play it through the lines. If he gets that nasty streak into him, he will a total force.

There's a bit of a backlash, against Mowbray, regarding his reluctance to throw Rusyn in before he can understand what's being asked of him. However it's clear, from these comments and others elsewhere, that he's continually coaching and explaining what's expected with established English speaking players.
I have to be honest I'm much happier with this than the 'good old days' of Reid and Saxton shouting 'get yer fiiking foot in!' at the players.
The fans, naturally, want that buzz of throwing new players into the fray and seeing how they do ...
... but Mowbray's obviously continually monitoring players, in games, in training and in meetings, before deciding if they're ready.
As we saw from Ekwah, yesterday, games can sometimes be decided on one mistake so care has to be taken. In the highlights you can see Rusyn , at kick off, miming to O'Nien that he should look for him and play balls over the top, I'm not sure that's what Mowbray had planned for and coached all week. So it's clear, to me at least, that Mowbray is struggling to get his messages across. Of course anyone can play football, without a word of common language, but tactics and requirements are important when a team is playing as technically as Sunderland imo.
It's a young team that makes mistakes, as we saw with Boro, Stoke and Leicester, keeping those mistakes to a minimum seems sensible to me.
