Undoubtedly true, the writing was on the wall for him. I just think he actually made a good point about the lack of emphasis the govt has on the green agenda right now. I realise there are plenty of problems to solve, but there are fundamental things being ignored it seems.

Anything to say on Starmer's pledges? Just to clarify what you're advocating for.
I'm not defending the Tories - I'm defending the process of getting things done. The same process the next Labour government will have to go through, unless you're the same as other posters supposedly on the side of the regular punter in preferring dictatorship.

At what point in time does the incumbent government, in this case the Tories, become responsible for what's going on? 5 years? 10 years? 20 years? I really don't understand how the Labour Party (who have had no powers since 2010), Jeremy Corbyn (who has never had any power) and Keir Starmer (who up until now has also never had any power) can be responsible for anything that has happened in the last 13 years? I'll also be having tremendous fun pointing out the hypocrisy, as I'm already doing to a certain extent with U TURN.
There's nobody on this board looking forward to a Labour government as much as I am.

Interesting piece in the Guardian by Neal Lawson, and why after 44 years he is being expelled from the labour party. I have posted befoee about this approach the labour political machine in westminster have embarked upon. This article says a lot about Starmers approach. I dont recognise this as the Labour party I grew up supporting, and certainly is not the Labour party I can return to.
In my opinion they demonstrate they are not ready to govern, while the tories prove consistently they are incapable of governing. How on earth we can see any hope that any of the two main parties can steer a way forward is beyond me. In our current political system we are left with choosing the least worst. Hardly inspiring. Lawson is a campaigner for proportional representation and a level of consensus politics, the sort of thing that would provide a degree of hope, to me at least. I only hope the next 12 months sees a better version of Labour emerges because they are going to have a hell of a job on their hands and they will need to deliver, for all our sakes.

The mess Labour have to clear up is unprecedented but you'll jump on the first bit of negative press the mail sun or express prints - imagine being so desperate to try to compare Truss sunak and Johnson to an incoming PM on a similar level.
Laughable but depressing they got anywhere near the top job due to the damage they've caused for a generation to come.

But this is nonsense. Assuming that an incoming (presumably Labour) MP is going to better than the existing Conservative one has no basis in fact, just blind bias. If you don't scrutinise the party in opposition you could be jumping from the frying pan...
What's more, it's perfectly obvious that Sunak, or anyone else, can't "stop the boats" in the same way the Labour's recent promise to bring back respect for education is beyond their (or any other party's) capabilities. If you believe every 'pledge' that a politician makes is going to come true, you're going to be waiting a long time.
With Sunak, this isn't just one pledge in a raft of other ideas ...

Stopped counting mate. I dont mind people changing tack when needs must. But at some point, when they change so many times, you have to wonder if the idea was flawed from the outset.
Yeah, I know. Possibly a bit daft of him. But maybe he doesn't expect them to be in power after the next election or he thinks people will forget about it if other things improve. Surely though, we're supposed to judge all of them on everything they promise.
