I don't think we should be making any sentimental appointment based on rampant emotionalism, or some vague notion of a past loyalty to the club. That stuff is best left to the Scousers and the Geordies.
If Nigel does go, I’d be happy to see Warren Joyce given a chance with Nick Barmby as No2, alternatively Nick Barmby with Brian Horton as his No2 . I wouldn’t be too disappointed with any of the following - Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Karl Robinson or Lee Clark as our next manager. Got to say I’m disappointed with Nigel Pearson wanting to leave though, just goes to show there is loyalty left in football.
Apart from Megson, who is Sheffield Wednesday's manager This Warren Joyce fantasy is wearing a bit thin with me to be honest. Nobody is denying what he did for the club is unrepayable, but if we're serious about challenging for promotion we can't appoint him as manager.
Would love to see a Joyce/Solskjaer double act.. for those doubting Joyce.. he has already proved he can manage a football club (very well.. don't forget he was harshly sacked too) when last here.. he then went on to have a successful coaching career, culminating in being employed at the biggest club in the country and being trusted enough to manage their reserves (jointly with OGS).. he's also managed abroad at Royal Antwerp. In addition to that we have a number of ex- United players who he recommended to the club so will be keen to work with again, and will keep the contacts he had when at United to possibly bring in more.. oh and he has a huge affinity with the club and its fans.. to suggest his named being linked with the club purely for sentimental reasons is nonsense.. there are a number of logical ones too. Don't get me wrong.. he's by no means 'perfect' for the role.. but who is?.. none of the names on that list exactly fill any of us with optimism.
I agree. He will always be a legend for the Great Escape but again he has no experience of this league. People refer to him managing abroad with Antwerp, but he left them in 2008. Antwerp were in the Belgian 2nd division, and had a lot of Man U loanees at the time as there is a relationship between the 2 clubs. In 2 years WJ failed to get them promoted
Nick Barmby as manager? Ffs I like Nick as much as the next city fan, but he has zero managerial experience. It's a no from me. Possibly a number 3 2 at a big push, but manager?
yes i have to admit the Megson Gaff....... but he is very forgetable to be honest with you. ok you dont agree which is fair enough. but Joyce is far more experienced than last time and works with quality. thats good enough with me. Joyce is not a fantasy at all. You may have to get used to this idea.

No. the question was Who would City get in as a caretaker manager in case there was no appointment by the Derby game. thats all. i agree that nick barmby is a better coach at present and would be a great no.2 or 3. thats all. nobody has come up with a better management team than Joyce - OGS - Barmby. ticks all boxes for me.
