These clubs learn nothing from their appearances in this league. Sunderland were the same at first but soon discovered there was no rights to anything. Portsmouth discovered it long ago. Ipswich have changed their tune in the wrong direction even though they have been here for a few seasons now. Sheffield Wednesday didn't bounce back last season. If previous glories played any part in any league then there would be little point in having a season at all. Let them think what they like. I personally don't expect anything in any season. I hope of course and if something comes our way then I am as chuffed as a badger as someone once said. The more you build yourselves up the harder the fall when it doesn't happen. Both of the latter clubs may get promoted in automatic places this season or even through the play offs if it comes to that. On the other hand none of the top 3 might get a promotion this season. There are 20 matches to go and plenty of time for the wheels to come off for any of the 24 clubs.

We've played Bolton and Ipswich twice and taken 4 points from each. We've drawn at Portsmouth and won away at Derby and Sheffield Wednesday and at home against Barnsley.

We have nothing to fear from these "big clubs".

We do still have to play Sheffield W away in February.....beat them 2-1 at home.

Confirmation that Argyle will be playing Cheltenham on Tuesday 21st Feb...kick-off at 8pm in the semi-final of the Papa Johns Trophy.....this will be live on Sky sports.

Argyle v Cheltenham....Tuesday 21-02-2023....8pm......Semi-Final.

90 minutes....then a penalty shoot-out if necessary.

Wembley next step for one of these teams...?

The winner plays the winner of tomorrows other semi-final between Accrington and Bolton.

Saxon Earley and Tyreik Wright are both cup-tied for this match....having already played for other teams in this tournament.

Not for me. I don't believe in this competition and have not gone to any games since Prem kids included. Don't intend to jump on a bandwagon now and still think it's wrong. Not sorry for Argyle financially though for those who want to attend. Each to their own.

1-1...F/T

Hardie...63mins.

May...49mins.

Argyle win 3-2 on penalties......Hardie scored, Cosgrove scored, Azaz hit post, Gillesphey scored, Houghton hit bar........Burton saved shots from Broom, Bonds and May.

Why was that so hard.

After some domestic debate, given it's unlikely we'd go to Wembley for this competition, especially as there's a possibility of going there for a League play-off final, we opted to watch Liverpool v Real Madrid instead. Although he can sing the Janner Song, my PSIL (Putative Son In Law) still harbours the idea he's a Liverpool fan but he admits he much prefers watching Argyle at Home Park to Liverpool on the box. I will continue his rehabilitation.

Anyway, the point is that I haven't seen the penalty shoot-out yet but saving 3 on the trot to take us to Wembley is hardly going to do either Callum Burton's confidence any harm or is standing with fans. I'm delighted for him.
