I just watched the Argyle TV highlights. Three of the goals (two that Charlton conceded and one Argyle) were horrible defensive howlers.

I did like Cosgove's goal though. He's put away down the right and as he's running in, her clearly looks across for someone in the middle to pass to. There's nobody there so with a (nearly) visible sigh and shrug of the shoulders, he slides it past the keeper from an angle. You can (nearly) hear him moan "oh, do I have to?".

Tuesday nights Papa John game versus AFC Wimbledon has been postponed because of a frozen pitch.

It has been rearranged for Wednesday...21st Dec at 7pm.

Whilst we're on the subject of pointless competitions, our esteemed football leader, Gianni Infantino (how appropriate a name), flushed with the success as he sees it of the World Cup, has come up with two new ideas to add to playing the World Cup in the middle of the European league seasons.

    1. A World Cup for clubs, to be played every four years, and consisting of 32 (yes, 32) top club teams, with the finalists having to play no less than 7 (yes 7) competitive games during the closed season.
    2. Scheduling the nations World Cup every three years so that it careers through the 4 year cycle of Euros and Olympics. He has at least gone cold on the idea of 3-team groups, which would have left the two out of each three playing the final fixture in each group knowing what result was needed. We know what that leads to.
This man's a menace. Players need a break between 70+ game domestic seasons. I think he got too much sun in Qatar.

Youngsters got the experience but not the result.....all change in the second half.....that was close.

    2-0 down in the shoot-out....but Wimbledon blinked....and lost 4-3.

Less than 2000 there again tonight. Not that I'm expecting it but only a short distance away from Wembley now. I wonder how many would turn up if they got there. I was asked on match day last if I would go if they did get there as I expressed my contempt for this competition. No was my firm answer I wouldn't. I have boycotted it so far and wouldn't change my mind about it no matter what. I don't even consider not going to this not being a proper fan either.

We had no right to win tonight mind from where we were.

Wimbledon forward Kyle Hudlin...on loan from Huddersfield... is recognized as one of the worlds tallest footballers.....6ft 9in or 2.06 m....he did score two goals in the first half to help Wimbledon go in at half-time 3-0 up.

We did win £40,000 last night in prize money.....so maybe not such a tin pot competition after all.

It has been noted elsewhere that all 13 goals Wednesday evening were scored in the Devonport end....that must be some kind of club record.

It's the end of the ground that I sit in and have to say I have always thought we score many more there than at the other end.

Argyle have earned in winnings so far in their Cup run.....£105,000.

I think without checking the Rovers game might be worth £50,000 to the winner.

Quarter Finals Night for the EFL Trophy....or better known as the Papa Johns Trophy.

    Bristol R v Argyle....KO..7.45pm.

Two of our new signings.....Saxon Earley and Tyreik Wright are both cup tied for this game.......Although Joe Edwards got a red card Saturday it only applies to the league....so he is available for tonight game.

We're two wins from Wembley....so it's more important than just being the mickey mouse cup.....I think the winner gets £50,000 for success tonight.

I assume a draw will mean straight into a penalty kick-off.
