Even the womens names seemed ruthless.
It's a ****e local rag that is usually more interested in only fans and that ****ing plastic weirdo thug from Hull.
I know many have questioned Barry Cooper's transfer successes and failures article, and frankly, I also find them bizarre, to say the least.
I hope Daniel got a good sentence for that many.
Plus a good news propaganda article about how great it is Fc are pushing towards 5,000 memberships sold for the new season. Meanwhile City selling over 18,000 tickets for todays game goes without a mention. (Apologies for answering my own post)

2 things jump out for me:
- "Thanks to some vaguely-worded paragraphs in the original SMC lease and some sharp legal arguments, the Allams won the day but morally it was always a wrong move". That's exactly how it felt for me, just morally so wrong. As Ehab infamously said "we do what is morally right .... for us". It was an absolute ****'s trick, no matter what the benefit to the football club we support.
- "Until the Allams took over, the SMC had always recorded a modest profit. After their takeover, it never once made a profit". I assume that is true; if so, it tells you all you need to know.

Noted the mail had a ‘men from Hull trafficking Romanian women ‘. It was actually Romanian men based in Hull who were the criminals caught .
Sorry, clumsy but deliberate wording , put the word Hull in it and everyone will read it - it is good to know we are reported on so positively .

Poor article from Angus playing to the hick ****s of hull suspicious of money and investment

I suspect the real reason behind this ****ty little article is someone has tipped Angus off that the arena is struggling somewhat with the increase in energy costs.
They are not alone. Of course keeping the place open is going to be more difficult. Although Angus Young and possibly some posters on here will not want to hear it but the last time the Tigers Trust were finding it difficult to make ends meet, Ehab made up the shortfall, and not for the first time. He is not there anymore to ask. I do use the arena and admit from what I have seen, it is used, probably 90% for football activities, but is that a crime? That's the walking football, schools teams, events etc ( boys and girls) and before the Sunderland game, the Hull, Help for Heroes had use of the place for a fund raiser. They did try to get walking rugby league off the ground there but it folded after a week through lack of interest. Lack of interest also means not enough bodies to cover the cost of hiring the place for an hour or so.
The arena was losing £250k a year before the excellent Tigers Trust took it on.
It was losing money because those using it were not paying enough rent to cover the running costs.
Personally I thought the above HDM article is very poorly researched and slanted very heavily against the football club's way of running things. You have to ask yourselves why?
Angus Young is very well clued up as I suspect you know.
It's not slanted against the football club, it's slanted against the former owners and the things they did. Thankfully they are no longer our problem and the damage they did can start to be reversed.

Rugby fans in this town provide a good laugh. Rugby league is on its arse financially and it’s a dying sport and then they expect handouts from from the local football club they don’t support because they’d rather support Leeds, Liverpool or Man Utd. I know some on here support both City and one of the RL clubs but they’re in a minority. Most FC fans I’ve met are Leeds ‘fans’. **** em.
It’s not just RL fans though. Even the local media and council have some sort of grudge against City and City fans. Can’t wait to pounce on any negative story like fans misbehaving but slow to congratulate us on anything.
The article is incorrect and a journalist of Angus Youngs standing knows very well that he is only representing one side. The arena is well used at the moment, it may be 90% football use, all of which pay there way, so why should that be a problem? Has Angus or the HDM asked any other local business men 'who might have a few bob' to fund a council owned facility for amateur clubs? If not why not if they think we have a problem with the airco arena?

Fancy that, the owner of a football club prioritises the club’s fans and staff of which he owns. Would be a nice gesture to invest in other areas but it’s not a given. Is he expected to house Hull’s homeless as well out of his own pocket? Like you said, these sort of articles only really single out City’s owners. It never questions how other capitalists in the local area invest their capital to improve Hull.

He bought the club and the SMC and with that comes a contractual obligation to maintain the stadium and the arena. The intent of the lease agreement was that the arena be kept in community use, but we've already had it proven that legally, that's not really enforceable under the current lease as it's worded. Whether Acun could be arsed to go over all that old ground and look at changing its use again purely in the interest of righting a previous wrong, I think we probably all doubt. Long term it's what should happen, but I suspect it's unlikely under the current lease arrangement.
The lease, we keep hearing, might he reviewed soon. FC have made noises about wanting longer-term security from it and City have made noises about further investment in it, for which we'd probably also want a longer lease. Hopefully the terms around upkeep, use and responsibility can be cleared up a bit for everyone's benefit.

Odd that isn't it!!
The Arena is part of the SMC. They took on the job lot. The job lot had made a profit every year until the Allam's rocked up. To my mind, irrespective of the benefits to the club we support, there's no escaping the fact that what they did with the Arena (and other things around the SMC) was a ****s trick and morally wrong.
Thankfully now water under the bridge, they are gone and we have an owner who appears to know right from wrong.
