Why do you try to pin everything on Brexit?
You even created a thread telling folk that you were leaving France because of Brexit. Until the posters living in France contradicted you and then further on it finally came out that you were leaving due to the French people being racist/prejudice towards you and it wasn't actually because of Brexit like you tried to claim with a thread headline.
For every stone thrown at one Party, an equally large one can likely be thrown at the other for similar things. For example Thatcher, yes she closed down some of the last mines but Wilson closed down more, in less time. Unfortunately for Thatcher, it was NE mines she closed so the region has held it against her.
For those slating Conservative for education, NHS spending in the NE and saying we will be forgotten about, remember it's been a Labour stronghold for many years now and so it's Labour who have held the purse strings. Look at this years council tax rise, all Labours doing because they rejected the Tory proposals. Probably because it included a huge cut to councillors' allowances...
This week, Sunderland's Labour councillors voted against the Conservatives' proposals to invest in children and environmental services.
The Conservative budget would have increased spending on schools and children's mental health, as well as developing a new leisure centre for children in Washington.
It also proposed giving residents bigger green bins for free, making pest control free in residential areas, and to roll out rat baiting bins across public parks and green spaces.
Our plans would have instead been funded through a £197,000 cut to councillors' allowances, abolishing expenses for councillors, and putting an end to loss-making events.
Above all else, the Conservatives' suggestions could all be funded without needing to increase residents' Council Tax by 5%.
Rather than allow residents to keep more of their own money, Labour rejected our plans and voted against our plan for schools and the environment.
Despite their promises to do everything in their power to prevent a Council Tax hike, Labour voted to increase local Council Tax by 5% - even when alternative plans were put forward to avoid a rise.

And the oppositions view from the Echo,
Councillor Graeme Miller, leader of Sunderland City Council, said the “positive budget” would continue with regeneration plans for the city and keep vital services running, while also supporting those most in need.
And he insisted the hike to household bills had been forced upon the council by the Government and that more sustainable funding was needed to avoid passing the cost of adult social care onto local taxpayers.
“We’re told by government that our core spending power is to rise by 4.5% next year but the part they’re less vocal about is that to achieve this, local councils need to increase their local taxes by 4.99%,” Cllr Miller said.

So Labour state the Council Tax rise was forced upon them but don't mention the rejected alternative was to cut their own expenses.
Nobodies perfect but Labour are just a plain bunch or arseholes and are the reason Sunderland is ****ed, not the Tories. Maybe vote in Tory next time and see how they do for the region and slag them off then if they do **** but Labour have been robbing the region for decades.

Brexit has caused problems and few benefits so far ...
... if that situation changes I'll happily say so.
Or perhaps you could educate me without the predictable personal childish sniping.
I left France for good reasons because I didn't want to be photographed, finger printed, have to apply for a residence permit, plus a work permit and have to apply for a French driving licence, etc etc etc. Nor do I want to lose pension entitlement, health care and all the other issues post Brexit.

I do have a lot of respect for you Smug so don't take this the wrong way but...
First and currently foremost, if we were still in the EU then the current vaccination status wouldn't be half or quarter of what it currently is. While the EU were ****ing around, we ordered the vaccines and got them delivered and millions administered before the EU even made there first order. They then 'tried' to tell Astra Zeneca they weren't allowed to follow through on our order because they needed it. Well, if they hadn't have ****ed around for months, maybe they would have had some and done a better job.
Secondly, despite Nissan claiming it would be bad for us if we left, they have actually come out and said business is booming for them and it's because of Brexit, so essentially a good thing for the region.
Appreciate you left France because you didn't want all the hassle that staying brought, but France is in the EU and so it's them making you go through that, not the UK?
people keep on and on about voting and political parties and why vote for one and not another...to be honest, that is pretty much like banging your head off a brick wall and deciding it hurts too much so go looking for a different brick wall to bang your head off...a massive change is needed before life actually improves for all but it will never happen because the people are sh1t scared they will lose that holiday abroad twice a year, or they wont be able to but a bigger car or house because we are all told we NEED to get on the property ladder and keep getting more debt, so you get a bigger house and that of course means you need to move up to a jag from a bmw, or even go range rover from a discovery.
the plain and simple fact is that you DO NOT NEED any of those things but society brainwashes you into thinking you have only made something of yourself if you have these nice things (house-barrasment on the adverts a prime current example) even at my age they are all but demanding i (and i love this) 'release equity' from my home...that is another way to say 'remortgage' and continue in debt till you die then we can claim your house and all else of worth.
i could go so much deeper into this as i have done in the past but i know people just sit back and laugh when you try to tell them...a lot of 'tin-foil hat' jibes usually follow but there is just so much wrong with the way we are governed now going back to common law, which is the law of this land but you all prefer to take notice of the 'acts of parliament' than real laws.

France has imposed all of these measures because of Brexit mainly out of spite, I just thought we were better staying in. My 5 year old granddaughter speaks to me in French because she's listened to me from an early age ...
... it's a shame that, to go there now, she'd have to jump through endless hoops.

Fair and reasonable point regarding Nissan mate. I actually never thought they'd pull out either and I'm sure the government backing helped the decision to stay. FWIW I was a Brexiteer and I stand by that decision and yes, I think it will take time for us to get on our feet but look at it this way...
The EU REALLY didn't want us to leave and kicked and screamed until we did. Why?
Because we were one of the biggest contributors to the EU in many ways. Secondly, since we have left, a few more Nations have actually took notice and seen what we've achieved in a short space of time and considering their own stance now. The strength of the Pound has also remained similar to post Brexit so the scare mongering regarding that crashing didn't happen. The freedom to create new trade deals for ourselves and not ones thrown upon us by the EU will see us grow stronger IMO and perhaps its this that particularly France and Germany were afraid of.
Clearly worth it - As a side point - the company that made the passports was I beleive based at Team Valley - since brexit the contract has gone to....a european firm.
So whilst the passports will be blue it will be at the expense of UK jobs.
The trouble is there is nobody like that, my mate was an opposition MP under Tony Blair and what he wasn’t going to do when they got in power, it took him about 3 weeks before he was as bent as the rest of them, never spoke to him again.
