Would expect an employment tribunal to not like that mind. If you pay him off he is no longer your player so I can't imagine we can stop him playing. That would be seen as restrictive and would think unlikely to hold,

that is why i wondered...unless he is then free to find another club but we would expect a fee, i guess if we agree a fee to cover him for the remainder of his contract we would expect something back or he is effectively being paid twice, strange situation with players now since the bosman ruling as they can all but hold a club to ransom while doing the absolute minimum required.

I'd say it's a kind of gardening leave whereby he's paid monthly but not required to attend training, etc.

Imagine if we paid him off, he goes to Wigan and his goal beats us in the play-off final.

I think the club are trying to push him into accepting a deal elsewhere before the end of the window.

That would at least get rid of him.

so, retaining his registration...would that mean he is still 'our' player and won't become a free agent until the end of his contract?

as i do not like the idea that we pay him off and some other club gets him on a free for the rest of the season.
To sign for someone as a free agent you have to have become a free agent before the end of the transfer window.

To sum up him and his time here, is "a massive fanny", moaning he didn't want to come, moping around on the pitch and at no point have the fans gave him sick. Even Mcgeady gave him a penalty to set him off with a confidence boost. Gave him his loan away last season etc. From the outside looking in, everyone has bent over backwards for him.

He hasn't the knackers to play for us because he'll then have to face the music with the fans about his attitude, commitment and output here. As for a move, hes on good money for the level we're at and in all likelihood he isn't going to get that kind of money again, so is he willing to sit on that for a year before taking a move?

He’s made it perfectly clear he doesn’t want to be here. If we have to pay him, get him to turn up every day and train on his own. I hate the thought of him sitting at home whilst taking our money, so at least p!ss him off as well by making him be up here.
