Lost one of mine tonight, my 14 year old Cocker Spaniel, Murphy.
Took ill a week or so ago, and went downhill rapidly. Third visit to the vets tonight and looks like he's had a brain haemorrhage/stroke.
Feel terrible, but left with no choice really, held him while he drifted off.
I'm in absolute ****ing bits....
Goodnight little man....

I know what you’re going through and it’s a horrible empty feeling - but just remember the 14 years of happiness Murphy brought you. I’ve lost a few dogs over the years and it is a very painful time. We’ve got a Boxer now and he’s only 3 but already I’m dreading the day he isn’t here. Stupid isn’t it!
Keep your chin up!

Had it over years and here I am with two old dogs dreading the moment mate.
Not nice, part of the family.
All the best.

Old saying mate.
"Better to have loved and lost, than never to have loved at all".
;)

Had to do the same thing with my staff a couple of years ago, held her as she passed on. Horrible thing to have to do. She's buried in the garden and I often have a chat with her when I'm out there and I'm always careful not to stand on her when I'm cutting the grass. Of course it gets easier with time but it still affects me a bit.

Sorry for your loss mate.

in my life time to now i have had 3 dogs pass on, the last one was such a heart wrencher i have not had another, however not working now so thinking about giving one in the stray kennels a hope and home, so sad for your loss mate, its brought a lump to my throat the memories it brought back of my old faithfull

Dogs, the only animal who loves something more than itself; you!

I feel for your loss marra! Lost one at the start of December four years back and it was the worst Christmas ever. Decided I couldn't live without a dog and couldn’t go through the loss off a dog like that again, so we went and got a pair of mini schnauzers.

So sorry to hear that mate. It’s so horrible when it happens. Had to get my dads whippet put to sleep the day after my dad died back in 2009. I was in floods of tears asking the dog to forgive me!! Took a good few years to get over that one. I’ve got 2 Westies now who are 10 and 11 and I’m dreading the day - they’re my world

Aw mate so sorry for your loss. We lost our Westie to a heart attack a couple of years back. Absolutely hurt like hell so I know what you’re going through.
