just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied to this thread, your kind words have been a big help, I really mean that.
Weekend was a bit ****, and it felt really odd taking just the one dog (Border Collie) out, (I've still got two, but one, the Yorkie, hides under the bed).
    Dogs eh....not just me who's a soft ****e then.

like i have already said mate been around the block a few times with that heartache, they say time and another pet heals, well for me it did up to a point, but i never forgot over ten years now it feels like yesterday, i could go on about the experiences the memories flood back to. All i can say is with all my heart i hope you are one of the lucky ones where time heals,

We bought a Blue Merle rough Collie back in September, can’t believe how much he has grown in just a few months. He will not be 1 year old until the end of July. He went for his first haircut on Saturday, it was the first time we’d been without him. The house just felt empty for that few hours.

    So sorry for your loss.

I know how you are grieving, mate. They really get under your skin. At least you can take some consolation in that you were with him at the end and not like me. I’m a **** with a capital C. I knew my best mate was dying and asked for the following day off so I could take her to be put asleep. I was refused for no good reason other than my boss decided she wanted to reinforce her position as my boss. So I went into work and got back at lunch time to find my dog had died, alone and in pain. I still can’t believe I didn’t just take the day off. As I said - I’m a ****! That was nearly 30 years ago and I still can’t get over what I did.

Ah man, I feel for you mate.
I think its your boss who's the **** mind, not you. She put you in a position where if you had stopped off you could have lost your job, nothing but a heartless bitch.

Awful news mate. We've got a 18 month old cockerpoo who is central to all we do as a family. We plan everything with him in mind as much as our kids. I dread the day when it comes.

    R.I.P. little fella.

Bumping an older thread, but lost another one today, my Border Collie, Charlie.
14 years old, and had him since he was a puppy. Beautiful dog...loyal, friendly, and my best mate.
Wasn't himself last couple of days, and today just couldnt stand up. Suspected ruptured tumour, causing internal bleeding. Can't believe how quick this happened, fit as owt last week, and gone today.
Held him as he drifted off, in ****ing bits again.
    Goodnight, Big Man.

    He's a good looking lad.

14 is a good age for any dog. He's clearly been well loved and had a good life. So many dogs don't get that, unfortunately. I'm sure he appreciated everything you done for him.

    RIP Charlie <rose>
