To be fair - two massive positives in a series of appalling self-inflicted negatives. I did not vote for them but do wonder if anyone else would have done much better. Now is not the time but suspect that Boris will look to repair some of the damage by being ruthless with his incompetents as soon as we ae out of full blown crisis mode.
Given most of them are only there due to their slavish loyalty to him, that feels unlikely.
And yeah we’ll never know how anyone else would have done. Think it’s a reasonable bet most leaders could’ve avoided the world’s highest death rate of any large country on an island and wouldn’t have siphoned quite as much money to private hands for dreadful service.

I had my vaccine on Wednesday, I work in health care so didn't have to wait for my age slot. I was very impressed with all the staff at the hospital and was in and out within 20 mins, I had Pfizer vaccine so had to wait for 15 minutes afterwards. Thursday and Friday all my limbs ached and kept falling asleep in the chair, other than that just a sore arm where injection given for a couple of days.
Just thought would let you all know, guess it will affect us all slightly differently.

I had the Pfizer vaccine too, but snuck out rather than wait the 15 minutes. No side effects for me, thankfully.
My wife, who had the jab at the same location a couple of days earlier, was given the Astra-Zeneca vaccine.

Large crowds congregated to frolic on Newcastle's Town Moor and Flatts Lane Country Park in Middlesbrough on Wednesday and Thursday.
Covid regulations allow police to issue fines for organised gatherings but the rules do not apply for crowds consisting of individual households.
Cleveland Police said it was "taking up a lot of resources".
"You can see we're outnumbered," said PC Ritchie Robinson.
"If they're not going to engage with us and we can't explain and reason with them in an amicable manner we're going to have to start taking names and addresses and issuing fines."
Police do have powers to disperse crowds and fine or arrest those refusing to leave, but only if they have a justifiable reason such as disorder or crime.
Northumbria Police said officers would "engage with the public where it is proportionate to do so".

The Home Office said people "should only be leaving home for limited reasons permitted in law and they must follow the rules when they do".
"The police will continue to take action where necessary, including issuing fixed penalty notices and directing people who are breaching the regulations to return home," a spokesperson said.

Volunteers who cleaned up litter left behind in Newcastle said Cow Hill was "an absolute mess" and warned broken glass had been covered by fresh snow.
Northumbria Police said it had dispersed crowds from Town Moor on Thursday night and planned extra patrols to make sure they did not congregate again.
The force also said it was aware of footage on social media "showing a group who appear to be partying on the Town Moor" on Wednesday evening.
"This type of behaviour is completely unacceptable and undermines the efforts of the majority of people in our region who are making daily sacrifices to prevent the spread of coronavirus," a spokesperson said.
The gathering was reported to police but when officers arrived the group had dispersed.
Health chiefs on Tyneside said large numbers of people socialising in close proximity heightened the risk of transmitting coronavirus and warned an increase in patients attending hospital with sledging injuries was putting extra strain on departments at a "critical time".
"Burdening our NHS with avoidable injuries at a time when we are already struggling with a pandemic is not acceptable," said Bas Sen, director of emergency care at Newcastle Hospitals Foundation Trust.
"The Royal Victoria Infirmary has seen multiple injuries including some pretty major ones, which are terrible for the people concerned but also start consuming critical resources at a time when things are already stretched."

Groundhog Day with government messaging. Well done on hitting the 15 million, have you not learnt anything with the trailing of loosening restrictions? I know that the creeps of the Covid Recovery Group of backbench Tories (membership virtually identical to the calm and measured European Research Group) are on the governments back to end all restrictions (presumably something to do with their foreign investments), but as far as I can see we are a long way from getting control over this even though things are moving in the right direction. This type of feeding stories to the news just encourages people to think the rules are guidelines, all is good and it doesn’t matter anymore. Yes we need good news and something to look forward to, but only if it’s real and sustainable.
It's possible you can have an anaphylatic reaction to the Pfizer jab - a couple of nurses who were amongst the first to get it suffered from one when they had them so now people are asked to wait 15 minutes to make sure nothing is wrong.
I was escorted to the waiting area, and a young lady stood by the entrance, there were only 5 of us at any given time in the waiting area so I guess she knew when we could leave. Every chair sanitised as people left. A special free parking area set aside too, which given at the hospital I was impressed with as they do love charging for parking.

Thing is not getting rid of the virus and going from lockdown to lockdown has got to be worse economically than keeping lockdown in place. A few more weeks/months pain for so much gain but they are going to really put that at risk.
They might not. There’s still a week to either be more informed by the data or be influenced by public opinion after leaking bits and pieces to their preferred media sources.
Logically though, if it takes weeks of lockdown to just about get the R rate below 1, it’s asking for trouble to do something likely to push it up again like bring kids of all ages back into schools.
This assumes the aim is actually to eradicate the virus rather than maintain the ‘war’ rhetoric and benefit from the misplaced belief of much of the electorate that blindly backing the government in such a situation is patriotic.
That is the problem, Kiwi.
Many many years is the answer, and whilst we are going through the populations, the virus is mutating and the people who were immunised first will need boosters with the new variants, probably every year.

They're talking about lifting restrictions around the end of April, if things are still going in the right direction.
That's another two and a half months so seems reasonable to me.
