Can football teams still afford to pay the big wages. In the present climate or should the playerd expect to take a pay cut in these mad times

Just thought the clubs could go under the economy is going to take a long time to recover. Sponsorship deals could callape as well as TV money.
The latter 2 sources surely are contracts for a given period. It'll take 2 or 3 years for clubs unless their main source is gate receipts. I would think.

No most clubs cannot afford to pay the agreed terms in players contracts at this time. And yes players should take a pay cut. Will it happen? I very much doubt it. Why? Because we the fans have made them God's (and sky tv) Football players are among the most privileged in the land, but will they offer to agree to a pay cut, even in these extreme times?

I would have thought professional footballers bank ballances are the least of our worries at this present time :emoticon-0112-wonde
Not really it is times like these when true professional sportsmen can lift our spirits and inspire us but what do footballers do other than look after their bank balance? I am actually ashamed of supporting them.

Yes I agree. But surly paid in stages and due the extreme times might say can't afford it or postpone till it starts again.

This is making it an even shorter career
They should screw every last bit out of it

So **** what if it's a short career. Generations of players have got a job once they finished playing. Landlords, Sweetshop owners, Posties etc. Its only this generation who expect to earn enough to keep them in Aston Martin's their whole life.

Lots of folk, myself included, have had to find a new way to earn a living when things changed.

Why are they now so special?
