We've often had discussion regarding the signing of Mr Grigg and how he hasn't lived up to his price tag to date.
Given our style of play recently, with a high level of chance creation, fast interplay and balls into the box is it now chance to give him another chance? Even as a bench option to come on with 20 to go, there's definitely a striker in there, his goal returns previously have shown it and watching his movement etc he has not lost the instinct. Charlie Wyke has been playing his role well, putting himself about, pressing and being involved in creation of chances, but I can't help but feel his lack of goals might be the difference between drawing a match and winning one.
I know many have written Grigg off, which is fair enough, he was fairly lacklustre before he disappeared, but when he's a player who thrived on balls into the channel and played into the box, it's hardly surprising he struggled with scraps and hoofed aimless balls prior. For that kind of work Jonson Clarke-Harris from Bristol is your guy.
Of course, it's possible I've got the "absence makes the heart grow fonder" approach where a player is remembered as being far better than they were prior to an injury / being dropped, but I feel he should be involved and see how he fares with this new style.

It’s stick or twist really.

If it happened and it worked out we’d all praise parky, if it didn’t we’d say ‘what the **** was he thinking’

I understand your point, but the fact that he isn’t even on the bench ahead of the likes of semenyo, who as exciting and as pacey as he seems is relatively unproven compared next to Grigg, gives me cause for concern.

I trust parky on this one, if he thinks he’s good enough and Grigg is gonna give everything he has, give him a chance, but I think the fact that the team has been so consistent and helped massively, and our league form would agree so too.

The player I’d personally like to see more of is Lafferty. His contributions helped us to beat Ipswich, and sneak a draw against Fleetwood.

Like to see lafferty on sooner for wyke tbh and maybe give Grigg a run out if we are a couple of goals to the good but like said,
I'm trusting Parky.

I agree with most of this ...

... We should use whatever tools we have at our disposal.

The supporters have stuck with Wyke because of his attitude.

If Grigg comes on, and puts in the same effort as Gooch, Maguire, Dobson, etc, he won't have a problem.

'Looking interested' is the minimum requirement for Sunderland supporters ...

... if Grigg can learn to fake that he'll get all the backing he needs.

If we are to play with the same formation, I would use Grigg as a sub and have him play one of the supporting roles like Gooch or Maguire
Ooof!! Hope you've got your tin hat on!

I see nothing in Grigg which makes me think he could be anywhere near the Maguire or Gooch roles. Both of those players work and try to make things happen. Grigg, all except once that I've seen him, has struck me as someone who just expected to be able to score with minimal effort

Bear in mind that PP sees and assesses Grigg every day. If he thought that he would fit into the team, either as a starter or a substitute, he would give him the opportunity. The fact that he can’t even get on the bench speaks volumes for me.

Agreed, like Nads says he played in a friendly which might be the first baby step towards getting in the squad but it seems pretty clear Parkinson is utterly unimpressed by him.

I don't think he would have the same impact as either but that is the only place in the team, I would put him. PP seems to like a target man up top, from what I've seen, I don't think that Grigg can play that role. So unless the formation changes and he plays a second striker (which has happened at times) that is where I would put him, but like has been stated - he's got to get on the bench at least first.

Well at the minute, he's not playing any roles in the team! Maybe Parkinson played him in that Carlisle game to either see what he can do or to make him feel a part of the squad. Think he's got a long way to go before he's starting a game.

My personal view on this is that I would leave it to the manager. Somebody else made the point that parky sees him everyday in training and if he decides to put him on the bench or dare I say even start him (which I don’t think will happen) I think the manager has earned the right to pick whoever he wants. It’s a case of you live or die by your decisions. Who knows parky might just be starting to get something out of Grigg that could be massive in the run in. Whoever takes to the field in the Safc shirt from now until the end of season needs to give 100% and if they do that they will get the same back from the supporters.

Parky has said he can see Grigg playing a part in the run-in. I see that as Parky offering Grigg an incentive to sort his ****ing life, fitness & football out and get fit, up to the pace and involved in the team. Otherwise he's as good as dead to us.

Over to you William, pull your ****ing fist out ya arse.
