Problem is mate you seem to be putting all of the blame on Levy. I've mentioned before, Poch was the one who vetoed a number of moves.

Levy isn't perfect by any means but the notion he's not backing Poch, or not willing to back Poch, is unfair. He may not be telling Poch we can sign ten £50m players but I highly doubt Levy has said there's zero to spend on signings these past couple windows.

Poch is as much to blame. I think he's been overly cautious with who he wanted but that approach has proven costly. Let's not forget that before this poor run of form, Poch was literally saying how everyone needed to show some faith and belief in the squad because things were going well. Now we've hit a bad patch, suddenly the squad is arrogant and lacking mentality etc... He's changed his tune massively within the space of about 4-5 weeks.

I think your post has a lot of truth to it but what I also think it does it most likely exposes that Poch's standards are above those that we can afford.

Our transfer record to date is somewhere in the region of £42m for Davinson - a good defender who is still learning his trade and is not an automatic starter. So even then, at £42m we are still looking at players who are developing and are not automatic first team starters or world beaters!

Let's say for arguments sake the clubs current maximum transfer figure sits at £50m. What does that buy you in today's market? For me, it neither a top tier player nor lower league dross. It's somewhere in the middle, and we haven't even touched on wages which is an entirely separate issue.

Poch is saying no to players in that range because he doesn't want a squad filled with more deadwood that doesn't add any value to the squad and can't impact on games. So there in lies the problem.

Poch has made us into a Champion League team that can't compete on the transfer market or get players of Champions League quality. His standards have raised the bar yet the club's transfer policy has not managed to keep pace. So he's forced to develop players which takes longer whilst utilising a smaller squad.

This just goes to highlight how critical our new stadium is, as it needs to generate a ton of income to allow us to restructure our wages and transfer policy. If not, where do we go as Joe Lewis clearly doesn't want to inject his own capital into the club. The next year or so will reveal where we as a club are headed.

The other unknown is Levy's role - if there is one - in drastically slowing down the departure of the numerous unwanted players littering our squad. If he's holding out for £15m for Janssen or even £10m for GKN, it'll be a miracle if he gets it. And beyond that there are a number of players who really aren't good enough and could be upgraded if sold. Would he take £7m for a broken Wanyama? £15m for a broken Rose? £20m for a ****e Trippier? I highly doubt it but that is the level of bid we can expect for those players.

Because the result wasn't the only depressing thing...

To be fair to Southampton, we were giving it pretty large with 'Being a YID' and 'YID Army', it was pretty non-stop. I'm not saying that it was OK what they did, but if you plant a seed, don't be surprised when it grows.

Hello C Kane welcome back. I don't think it's unknown what Levy's role is. Tottenham have a board Levy is chairman of that board. The decisions are made by the board with the Manager and as with any board the chairman's role is decisive and influential. We have seen this board operate for a number of years with a number of managers. I think it's also clear that Levy and Pochettino are probably as close as any manager and chairman have been. It's also clear IMO that the line this board has followed over the years has brought tremendous achievement and advances for Tottenham Hotspur. Based on that track record I am happy to go with their decisions on transfers or the lack of them. The long term plan is all important and finances are key to this in the professional game. Fans always want more, they always want Messi in their team it's perfectly natural but in the real world you cannot ignore how far Tottenham have come and how they are easily, yes easily the best financially run club in the Premier League.

Many fans are saying there is an imbalance between investment in the playing staff and investment in the club. Personally I don't have an issue with ENIC but many do.

Would it not be better if Levy moved to CEO and a non-executive Chairman was appointed?

Meanwhile, the squad's headed to Barcelona for a three-day training camp

Of course, with Spurs support being what it is, my main takeaway is that one r/coys poster who demanded several times that Poch makes the entire squad run until they puke every single day is either an Arsenal fan, a complete moron, or should be reporting their high school basketball coach to the relevant authorities...

Drastically changing a winning side that was grinding results has cost us. Is it a coincidence that we started losing since Kane came back? Sure, he has scored in every game but the team itself looks lost in the wilderness. Sonny may as well be playing for S Korea in yet another tournament, so absent has he become.
I said that when it first happened at Burnley, in fact I said keep him benched and since then the execution squads have gathered. Glad you agree gericalo.

There are a couple of articles in Newsnow Spurs about Benitez being the perfect replacement for Poch and that Poch has taken us as far as he can. I'd go for Conte but Benitez is the sort of top name who'd take us up.

Oh, it's NO coincidence that we've been losing since Kane came back gericalo.

FFP essentially forbids anyone injecting capital to buy players.

Why would that be Levy's decision? He doesn't have the skill to value players. We have a whole team of recruitment staff to do that.

Is gericalo a crackpot and an uneducated pillock too then or is it a case of it takes one to know one?
You are both making the common mistake of drawing conclusions from limited data. In other words it us a coincidence that we've done worse since Kane became fit. What isn't a coincidence is that we've had our best ever run of finishes in the League since Kane became a starter.
