Not sure I take much satisfaction from the fact that all the sports teams in Hull get pretty low crowds
I do when it comes to FC! They have the most fickle fans going! 2 for a fiver a healthy away following and the could even match Rovers attendance! I know more Liverpool supporting FC fans then I do city! So for me it’s bliss!

It's not like they're on a winning run or owt...

Smells of a decoy story to deflect scrutiny away from their embarrassing losing streak.
Blame the record 13 game run of defeats on the football ?
Its a poor article by the HDM. They do not state that all football matches have to kick off at the same time on the last day of the season. RL know this, or should do.
You could say it's FC disrespecting Hull City by arranging a game and their family day hours before a football game in the same stadium.
But some of the comments on the HDM forum explain why there will always be bad feeling between the two clubs.

Could be that Bristol need a result that day, midday kick off.

Dep. Bristol 0200 hrs for their fans.

I've got a soft spot for their fans.

Hessle foreshore when tide is right out.

Some of the comments are unbelievable and show a lack of awareness, as does the HDM. City can't alter the day because the EFL, quite rightly, want all the games kicking off at the same time. Apparently the EFL stipulate pitches can't be used 24 hours prior to a match. Though the PL don't. As the fixtures were out before the RL ones you would have thought they would not have put a fixture in the same weekend.
In any case, the agreement when the KC opened was that at the end of the football season City had precedence and at the end of the rugby league season FC had precedence. And who was in charge of the SMC when that was drawn up? Oh yes - Adam Pearson. Which will be why FC agreed without moaning, unlike their fans.

You'd think the imbeciles at FC would've checked the City fixtures before deciding to have a 'family day' on a weekend when the fixtures would likely be changed.

But of course, it's our fault.

Especially as the owner of drew up the agreement City having precedence at the end of the football season and FC having precedence at the end of rugby one.
Mind you, you would have thought the RFL would have looked at the football fixture list before drawing up their own. There again, thinking isn't the strong point of the RFL.

They'll have most probably looked at the Bank Holiday weekend, saw their were no football fixtures on the Saturday and then arranged a full programme thinking there was no competition.

Considering that traditionally the EFL finishes on a bank holiday weekend alongside the fixtures already being out, that would be an incredibly stupid thing to do.

But, it is Hull FC so why be surprised.

The only sacrosanct fixture for City, is the one causing this stir. Every other game can have day and time altered at the whim of Sky. Perhaps that is the reason RL does not bother entering any football fixtures into their programming?

Just unfortunate they were drawn at home for the one immovable City game.

Actually you've just displayed a lack of awareness as to how the entire process works.

The RFL request any potential schedule conflicts from the police, local councils and stadium managers, this blocks out dates in the calendar for each stadium and they arrange fixtures accordingly.

In this instance the SMC failed to block out this day so from the RFL's perspective they were free to arrange a fixture, it is not their responsibility to look into the operational rules of a sport that happens to share the stadium, that's the SMC's job.

One honest mistake has lead to another, but obviously people would rather focus on the rugby vs football narrative than consider the facts.

Honest mistake, but also basic and massive

Which doesn't alter the fact that the owner of FC will have been well aware of the fact City would have a game on the Sunday and be well aware of EFL regulations having been in charge of City and the SMC. Which is why FC have agreed to the request without making an issue of it. Why pick that particular day for an open day? They know full well weekends when City won't be playing.

Despite the attempts by fans to compare themselves to football, broadcasters still put them in the same viewing draw as table tennis.

Another good article by Martin Samuel about the PL's attitude to other events. Seems they regard as rivals anything to do with the Football League and the grown up version of rugby.

"Much debate around the choice to be made this Sunday. Carabao Cup final or Liverpool versus Manchester United. What is the bigger game?

Personal preference says go with the trophy. If Liverpool could actually win, or lose, the League at Old Trafford this weekend, then no contest. But they cannot. At Wembley, however, one of only three major domestic prizes will be lifted. We cannot argue that finite success is important, and then ignore it when it happens. As compelling as the match between United and Liverpool will be, it is a single stride in the title race, no more.

What is interesting is the schedule. We now know little is random. These marquee events are schemed, placed in the calendar for maximum impact and intent. Yet why is the Premier League's aim always to suffocate their rivals?

Chelsea will be competing in the Carabao Cup final against Manchester City on Sunday

Manchester United and Liverpool have both reached a single League Cup final in the last seven seasons. It is not a competition either club takes greatly seriously. So there was always a chance some of the Football League's thunder would be stolen by a rival event at Old Trafford.

Just like last season, when coincidentally Manchester United were due to play Chelsea, while Manchester City were visiting Arsenal on the Football League's big day. By chance, that last fixture turned out to be the final, too - but the first game went ahead.

It isn't just football that the Premier League seem to target. What are the chances of both Manchester derbies being scheduled for the two biggest weekends in rugby's calendar: the visit of the All Blacks in November, and the conclusion of the Six Nations Championship in March? Yet that is what happened.

The second Manchester derby has been rescheduled due to FA Cup quarter-final commitments, but the Premier League win either way. Now they have a juicy elite fixture to shoehorn in as the title race nears its conclusion. Their broadcast partners won't mind that.

Any television deal counted in billions is going to be subject to a degree of manipulation, we understand. The Premier League can no longer leave their narrative entirely to chance. Yet why the need to crush? Why can't they part with even the crumbs from their table? Haven't they got enough?"

If it’s cleared by the SMC then they had no reason not to, although knowing how useless the Allams are it would probably have been in their best interest to double check.
