Seems odd they're doing so brilliantly after we were such a goalscoring tour de force under the magnificent tutelage of the quite brilliant Koeman. Apparently.

Everton finished 11th last season and were 8th before this round of games. Saints finished 6th last season and were 12th before this round of games.
Seems like they've improved this season and we haven't.

Nor have they. They've been appalling since the first five, easy games, which is the only reason they have any points. What's upsetting their fans the most is that Koeman just sits in his dugout like he couldn't give a ****.
My point being, Puel is not as bad as some have been making out since Thursday, and neither is Koeman as good as people are seeming to remember. Anything but.

They're higher in the table than they were last year and we should know better than most that Koeman is capable of getting a team out of a slump and into a run of form.
He'll need one of his key players to get injured, forcing him to luck into a more effective formation then. Along with a bonkers year that allows a team like Leicester to be champions.
They're hopeless, and he really isn't much better.
True. Koeman wasn't untouchable by any stretch of the imagination and his team could be ineffective at times but it wasn't the norm. Puel's side has generally been playing duller, less penetrative, less effective football than Koeman's did. There have only been a handful of games where we've played well and won comfortably. Koeman's team were capable of 3, 4 or even 8 goal wins. Puel's isn't (so far). The players and board have to take some responsibility but Puel is ultimately responsible for the team's performances and deserves some criticism.
Oh I do agree - I'm a long way from believing Claude to be the messiah! I just think RK is massively overrated and was flattered by our team, hence not being too fussed when he went. He's getting found out now, and long may it continue.
I think he's a good but not great manager. Effective at getting results. Not a long term guy though. A sort of upper-mid-table Mourinho.
On balance, so far this season I would genuinely rather has Puel as manager than RK. At least he plays the youngsters.
