Crap day footie wise but have picked up crimbo tree... 6.5 ft of Nordman fir ...just put the lights on and missus and kids doing decorations...already looks fookin' awesome...might just indulge in an Indian take away tonight given all the hard work...
Off out tonight to a local Italian place, first of the Christmas nights out. Of out then again on Thursday to a Smoke Haus place then an Indian on Saturday. Love it.
Trees sorted today. One (fake) for the missus to decorate all fancy. One (fake) for the kids to decorate all garish. One (real, recycled from last year) out the front so that Santa knows we're expecting presents.
...and I'll just bet that the same kids get the big parts every year eh? ...in fairness my now middle daughter (coming up 17 in January) did get to play the Virgin Mary in her primary school nativity...she was also into Peter Pan at the time and it all got a bit confusing...after the play had ended she asked her teacher whether she would get to play the Virgin Wendy next year too ..
My lad got to play a sheep a few years ago. It only occurred to me months later that he was playing a black sheep. Obviously they are the bad ones. This was when I introduced my son to the 'race card' trick. Following Xmas I was waiting to pounce if he was the sheep again but that year he was a tree, job done. #blacklivesmatter Emotional.
I bet you were one of those dads at the front pushing and jostling to video your kid with your camcorder* *stolen for street cred
Done one, got two this week. The one for my eldest is being held at the University grand hall for some massively over the top reason. The plus point to that is there is a bar so not the end of the world. The hair of the dog will be very useful considering I'm out on the night before. Got the reception class concert then at Friday dinner and that's it, all concerted out. I wouldn't mind but they're in Welsh, I've no idea what the **** they are on about anyway.
The reception class one will have you blabbing with pride, so take tissues. enjoy the kids concerts as they are priceless - and great for bringing up at a later date for total embarrassment in front of their new boyfriend
Remember when I was a kid and the teacher would say she hopes for a 'white Christmas'. That used to cut me deep.
Also remember when on 'Christmas lunch' day the teacher would announce that we havin Christmas lunch today. All the kids used to cheer. Me also.....but the Turkey wasn't halal. Hard times.
My little one is playing a sheep this year! In fact, I'm off to watch the concert within the next 15 minutes.
Ohh fantastic, it'll be a proud moment when the young un walks on stage then goes and sits behind all the main cast. If I'm not mistaken around the 8th minute mark...the sheep graze, 'pretend' graze of course. That's the bit I pulled my phone out fo..proud memories.
