Manchester City are planning a world-record bid in excess of £100m for Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, 29, next summer. They will offer the Argentine a £500,000-per-week contract. (Sunday Mirror)

Can help thinking that if this deal came off, it will end up being the most expensive flop in football history.
If they had watched him so far this season they would reconsider a bid like that.

He could become head teaboy at City if the lad doesn't make it.But first he must remove his Trump hairstyle!

You, top, have 4 more points than us, in fifth.

Ripping teams apart isn't what matters, it's consistency. Spurs are unbeaten and are, therefore, the most consistent side so far.

I'll repeat, you will do very well to beat us next week, and if you do, imo, you will make yourselves favourites for the title. On the other hand, if we beat you, we ought to be considered viable title contenders. Personally, I think a draw is most likely, which will keep the title in the mix for all five sides.

No, having the most points matters, above all else, regardless of how many times you have lost.
You sound like an Arsenal fan.

Agree though that beating you will be our hardest challenge yet though, given your solid defense.
Having 5 teams competing at the top will be awesome, and is why the PL is the best league in the world.

Don't hold the highest points record
Don't hold the most goals scored record
Don't hold the most wins record

But the Arsenal "invincible's" are the bestest team ever

Well...duh!

I know that!

The point I am (clearly) labouring to make is a very simple one, and ought not to be controversial. I'll try it again...

In my opinion - please note those words - the pundits are not giving Spurs enough credit for being the only team unbeaten in the league. That shows a high level of consistency - ie. the consistency of not being beaten in the league. In years gone by, the likes of Hansen and Lawro would have waxed lyrical on the topic of how winning the league is all about not getting beaten.

If you fail to beat us next weekend, none of the teams above us will have been able to beat us, and that must earn us the right to be considered viable title contenders?

No need for vile insults, Bodi. Call me a ****, if you must, but never liken me to an Arsenal fan.

At the moment, the reason why spurs aren't challenging is because you guys look absolutely awful up front. I think your team is actually built for the big occasions. Teams you can outpress and be more physical than and hit them on the counter. That's why you haven't lost any of the big games yet. It's the games against the ****ty defend at all cost teams like west brom and boro that you struggle on as you guys aren't very creative.

Poch doesn't really have proper width (from the full backs) and you play such a narrow game. As shown this season, it's the draws that are costing you, not the losing of games.

As for chelsea vs spurs, obviously being a chelsea fan i fancy a chelsea win but it's at stamford bridge, you guys are going to be knackered having just played a derby against the spammers, going to monaco for the CL game of your lives and then playing us at the bridge where your record has been bad and we've been awesome.

I have no doubt though that after last year, you guys will be eager to play us and theres going to be cards galore.

Oh and your best defender in Alderweireld is out and Rose is out too

Guys, try to find a few minutes to remind yourselves of the talent that was matt le tissier.

Some goals in here, I'd struggle to see literally any other player scoring :

They're efficient, I'll give them that.
