Cannot see much chance here, as we simply do not have enough firepower. Liverpool are still porous defensively but they have such a goal threat.
I hate these Liverpool games so much. They've not just bought our best players, they've bought the confidence needed to stroll into SMS and play without fear. Not a good thing with their front line this season. If we are without Tadic, PEH and Forster I think I'll go camping for the weekend a long way from coverage.
Am fairly confident we will lose by some margin. Is it just me or do we seem to have lost a lot of the swagger we gained over recent seasons? I can't remember in recent memory us all predicting a home loss against a top team.
You are all making me look like a cheerful Charlie....do you want to borrow my duvet? Don't go near any tall buildings or sharp objects.
Can't make this one - fist home league game I've missed since the 2008/09 season I think. But in some ways I'm glad - I do fear Liverpool's attack hitting us with both barrels. And for the full 90 mins this time, rather than just the 45 like last season.
I keep thinking that so far, not one our returning players has come back and really handed out a stuffing. What with the quality of some of those players, this surely cannot continue forever? I thought we were going to get smashed last season for this fixture when the ball hit the back of our net three times in the first half. Well, let's hope the linos flag is as helpful and that Mané suffers a minor ironing injury prior to the game. They look a great team but we can do it. If not, well it's about time all that money they paid proved worth it.
This is the kind of match Saints should enjoy. Saints earned the right to play the likes of Liverpool through a hard fought promotion back in 2011/12 therefore the home fans should consider that they are taking on an equal. OK Liverpool definitely have the better players but Southampton's aren't bad either. PS: The games I fear are when Saints come up against lower league oppostion, teams that should be beaten but occasionally come back to haunt us all (Sheffield United and Crystal Palace.
Yep. We were ****e against Hull and we usually struggle after international break. So I'm going for 4-1 to Saints.
It's the Hull result that has changed everything....not that it affects the Liverpool game, but the fact that it makes is so important. Won at Hull, on 16 points is entirely different from facing Liverpool and wanting to avoid 3 EPL losses in a row. What we must remember is that we have beaten Liverpool before and this could be our game to play our best....so onwards and upwards #newpositivefran* *this position is not guaranteed to last beyond 14.59 pm on Saturday.
Klopp's news conference is at 11.00 am today, so should hear news (bad, we hope) about Lallana (and perhaps half their squad )
