Stevie's haters accuse him of having a massive ego, but I don't know if that's true or not. If he's professional and humble enough to go and learn at the bottom then I think he'd be a great asset, but we have a good system in place now and don't need anything to disrupt it. If Klopp achieves what we're all hoping, and gets us competing at the top consistently, then when the time comes for him to leave we need someone to take over smoothly, someone who has learned his methods thoroughly, and can build on them - rather than someone new with new ideas to start at square one all over again.
Has Stevie even got the badges you need for the permanent job? Hate how people assume that certain players will make good managers. Let him prove himself and go at his own pace.
In all seriousness, i think stevie me would be a terrible manager. Maybe a good coach. He would probably command respect but he would probably have zero tactics, zero charisma once they got to know him and he'd probably get frustrated that the players he has were not up to the athletic or technical ability of himself. He was never a smart player but his natural talent allowed him to play to a very high level (plus hogging the ball all the time helps) Carragher would be a good shout. Saying that though i would never have imagined Zidane being a great coach but he's doing a fine job at Real. He does seem slightly more intelligent than stevie though
This is why I said he'd have to be prepared to learn. I do agree that he's a personality vacuum, though - and that's probably not a great asset.
Anyway - it's a bit rich you claiming that a massive ego is detrimental to a manager, you being a big Jose fan an' all.
I never said having a massive ego is detrimental to being a manager . Where in the that post have i mentioned that. I said he had one but never said that would get in the way. I listed why he'd be a **** manager though. I do think having a massive ego is detrimental though (now you have it in writing). Jose could be so much more if he didn't have his ego but now he's gone all stubborn and is failing to evolve ala wenger.
I think Gerrard should be given a job, I am not sure which capacity. He also deserves our respect. The only medal that eluded him "Premiership Medal " he should have got it if he had went to Chelsea. Having said that,he was loyal to his hometown club
Out of respect, I think we should find the right opportunity for him but we shouldn't shoe horn him in. His ability as a player has no bearing on his ability to coach/manage. I hope we do bring him back and he does his apprenticeship at youth level.
I read your mind. Jose has always been stubborn -he's a spoilt child. When things are going well for him he's ok, when they're not he has a tantrum. When does he ever persevere with a difficult situation to try and bring it round?
No word of a lie, but my liverpool loving friend also said John Terry is a good guy after bumping into him in dubai because not only did he see him in the lift and make idle conversation but terry saw him again the next day and spoke to him again!. I don't think you're media spinning opinion of him is going to change though
