Wow!!! England done a Norwich!!! I said a few times before Watching England is just like watching Norwich and it means there's no enjoyment in football at the moment. they've gone and matched us again. Southgate will still get the job (Even though we have played rubbish football, he's not a manager with the experience and reputation we need, and scraped results.) I also bet he will get this 4 year deal being talked about. Which again, is insane!! When we crash out of next years tournament to New Zealand, we have to stick with him, or pay another one off.
So, in his four match stint in charge, he's managed to beat the might of Scotland and Malta, managed a (fairly) creditable draw vs Spain, (though the game was reminiscent of NCFC at St James Park this season ) and scraped a draw against the 'plucky' Slovenians, population in total 2,069,362! Credentials for a lengthy and wealthy permanent contract? Knowing the FA, I'd assume so.
It's insane isn't it, If I were the FA I would give him till the end of the season. If he impresses (Note I don't use "continues to") then by all means give him the job till the end of the next tournament, extend it if it isn't a complete shambles. But if he continues to be bang average then at the end of the season see if we can't get someone a bit better. The FA have seemingly wanted Wenger for a while, might he be better and possibly available after Arse once again win nothing? At least Wenger should get us to the semis, he's good at top 4, no chance of winning though! At least he also knows the English game, even if his teams are for the main built around foreign talent like everyone else. Bah!
Celtic clash up next for Norwich City Under-23s in Premier League International Cup. The game kicks off at 7pm this evening and tickets are free. The final group game is against Villa under 23s on Monday 5th Dec, so that's going to be a busy week, as we're due to play our 'Checkatrade Cup' against Swansea under 21s the same week!!!! http://www.edp24.co.uk/sport/norwic...in_premier_league_international_cup_1_4777936
Why do we have to wade in with a 4 year contract?! If we offered him the role to take control til the World Cup. Then at least we can sack him off in the lead up to the World Cup. Might be able to get a decent manager in. Offer him the chance to lead England in a World Cup. Not all that fair on Gareth, and doesn't show much faith, but he hasn't earned it anyway. Certainly hasn't earned the right to be England manager, let alone for 4 years!!
Certainly not, but the English FA are just like the NCFC boardroom - cosy, stable, toeing the corporate line, safe and long term are the prerequisites. Southgate ticks all those boxes and then some!
Shame they didn't send Hodgson to watch us roll over abjectly when he was still England gaffer - maybe, after digesting his match report, they might decide the "Norwich model" is not exactly a blueprint for success that they ought to be following!!
Well, the under 23s followed in the footsteps of the under 21s and had a comfortable 3-0 win, YES, a clean sheet. Godfrey and Turner were good in defence, with Murphy and Morris good up front. Canos started well, but faded. Our Checkatrade game against Swansea is now on Monday 28th Nov. Crowd tonight - 2074.
Solihull Moors knock out Yeovil on Pens Eastleigh go to Swindon and win 3-1 Brackley Town knock out Gillingham 4-3 God bless the FA Cup!!
Oh well - don't expect much to change with the England team in the next 4 years - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2016/nov/16/gareth-southgate-england-manager-permanent

It does mention a break clause, hopefully (Though I doubt it!) they have learnt from previous experience and when we meekly surrender in the next tournament he can be given the heave ho relatively cheaply. Though I don't suppose it really matters, the FA have hired guys with very good club records in the past and they've done sweet FA, so may as well do sweet FA more cheaply! Still gotta pick English players, thats the problem! Bah!
Excellent performance and result. We have great young players and they need to be given a chance! From kickoff we had 3 up front it didn't seem so leave any spaces on the pitch either. Really enjoying watching these games, at least we're getting some attacking exciting football.
Yes ILD, they still play in Yellow and Green, but there the similarity ends!!!! I was expecting quite a tough game, but it was quite a comfortable win in the end and could easily have been more so had Morris, Murphy or Canos had just a bit more luck/skill.Good crowd as well. I'm going in to book my tickets for the Checkatrade game V Swansea on 28th Nov tomorrow and then the following Monday, we play Villa under 23s in the last of the group games in the PL Cup and we're in a good position to progress to the next stage in that as well..
So, Luton Town have been fined - for fielding an under-strength team... in a competition full of youth and PL academy sides! You really couldn't make this up! http://www.lutontown.co.uk/news/article/2016-17/luton-town-checkatrade-trophy-efl-3419548.aspx
The cheapest Norwich City season ticket is the highest in the league. So how the hell can our board justify being the most expensive when they've clearly stated they want plodding mediocrity for evermore? Greed, but no effin' ambition http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37988939
