Becoming as good as, but as exciting? The Liverpool team of the late 70's and early 80's were as exciting as a soggy rice pudding. But this team is good, and we could have lived without some of those injuries. But we are Southampton. Anything is possible.
I'll bet Stuart Taylor is having second thoughts about joining us ... he might actually have to play a match
https://southamptonfc.com/news/2016-11-15/international-preview-southampton-november-15 Saints saying Bertrand might play today so he can't be too bad, #clutchingatstraws.
I know it's Liverpool we're talking about, but they are playing exciting football and are one of the strongest teams in the division at the moment. It's going to be very difficult to get something from this match and I'm not optimist at all.
I would be more optimistic if we were on the back of a win. I know it's only 2 losses (1 against Chelsea), but this, combined with our failure to score, worries me against a good club. Last season, we always knew we could score, but this season we rely heavily on our defence to give us a chance to win by the odd goal. Still never say never, Liverpool are in good form, but it wasn't that long ago that they weren't. Let's hope Mane has an off day or a virulent cold and Lallana gets injured a bit today. That only leaves the rest of the team. I dreamt last night we beat Everton 3-2....shame we're playing Liverpool.
Congratulations to Charlie and Bianca on the safe arrival of baby Hunter Fred Bodhi Austin weighing 4lb 9oz at 4.26 this morning........Now Charlie should be available for Saturday
Given the brief on this thread I'd like to say this game could go one of two ways ... ... Either Liverpool could win or We could lose But at least Liverpool aren't as organised as Chelsea and have defensive issues, so they will have to blow us away offensively or they risk "winning by a smaller margin"* *Code for not winning - ssshhh
He's going to be in the right frame of mind to scaore a goal in our glorious ... errr ... defeat on Saturday
Congrats to Bianca and Charlie. Hunter is unusual, but at least not one of those dreadful old fashioned names like Stanley (to be always known as a tool). I thought that was bad enough until another celeb called their son Ernie (the fastest milkman in the west). All expectant parents out there....imagine your child aged 30 years, would they want to be called Bertie or Trixie-Bell. Soapbox now put away.
Not looking forward to this game, I never am when we play you guys Our bubble is bound to burst sooner or later, plus we may be forced to bench both Firmino and Coutinho, as they're playing on international duty for Brazil and may not be able to play Saturday. I do expect both to be on the bench though. Hopefully (for our sake!) Sturridge has his shooting boots on! Good luck guys for the rest of the season, except for Saturday of course
Sturridge always scores against us.......so a little niggle when he warms up and has to be on the bench would be just fine.
Well, I always dread playing Liverpool. Really scared this time though, they've been monstrous recently.
Thank you. It's funny that you say you are nervous about playing us. You may have noticed that the feeling is mutual. In my case with dozens of friends and family who are Liverpool fans the loss of three points is the least of my worries. An honourable draw would suit me nicely. I do have to say that your team does look awesome at the moment. Let's hope for a serious blip!
I'm nervous as I mentioned I think we are due a loss! And you can beat anyone on your day! Here's hoping for a Lallana hatrick and a clean sheet
My at a stretch logic for this weekend is.......we beat Burnley and Burnley beat Liverpool so therefore we will win
Welsh damsel may not be able to go Welsh damsel is trying to get out of having to work this weekend to complete a big project. Welsh damsel needs to stop talking about herself in the third person and has to balance going to see her beloved Saints against getting the sack (no, not really but I'm seriously running out of time to finish this job )
