Not sure if this has been posted on here yet as I don't really want to trawl through umpteen pages.......

Clives thoughts on Holloway's appointment.........another look in the mirror time maybe?

As expected, Ian Holloway was confirmed as the QPR manager for the second time in his career on Friday. Is this a sentimental appointment doomed to failure or more astute than it looks?

I’d have given it to John Terry personally.

Because we know how this goes. Or, certainly, we know how this has gone for all our recent managers in any case – including Neil Warnock, who many fans were publicly doubting was up to the Premier League when Tony Fernandes pulled the trigger on him in January 2012 and so set in motion this spiral of failed managerial appointments from which we seem unable to extricate ourselves.

    Read the rest here........

I hope Washington gets some goals. We paid £3m for him! I thought last 2 games he was a bit unlucky not to score.

Les Ferdinand: Ian Holloway has 'unfinished business' at QPR

QPR's director of football Les Ferdinand believes the club can still get promoted, and explains the reasons for sacking Jimmy Floyd-Hasselbaink.
Ian Holloway's feeling that he has unfinished business at QPR was what convinced the club's owners to appoint him as manager, according to Les Ferdinand.

Holloway signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Loftus Road on Saturday, 10 years after leaving the club, following the dismissal of Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink the week before.

The 53-year-old played for the Rs for five years from 1991 and managed them from 2001 to 2006, winning promotion to the Championship in 2004.

And Ferdinand told Sky Sports News HQ: "He knows the ins and outs of this football club, he knows what this club demands. He knows what the supporters want to see.

Ian Holloway has signed a two-and-a-half year deal at Loftus Road

"He's very enthusiastic, but more importantly he understands where the club is right now, what we've got and how we're trying to take the club forwards.

"He knows the constraints in terms of the budgets, but he's excited about what he can get out of this bunch of players and for me and the owners that was the most important thing.
"His enthusiasm and the fact he feels he's got unfinished business here is what swung it for us."

Holloway managed QPR to promotion to the Championship in 2004

QPR are currently 17th in the Championship with 20 points from their opening 16 games, but Ferdinand insists the club are still aiming for the play-offs this season.

"Can we go up as one of the top two? That's probably a little bit out of our reach, but it was always about whether we could get into the play-offs and perhaps that is why the decision was made with Jimmy," he added. "We still feel we've got a squad that could get there."
Ferdinand also denied reports that Hasselbaink was sacked in Nottingham immediately after the
    1-1 draw with Forest.

Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink was sacked after the 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest

"I spoke to him after the game and said 'I have to meet you at the training ground this evening.' We didn't sack him at Forest because we thought it would be unfair for him to climb on the coach with all the players, but the mere fact that I was telling him, he obviously knew what was going on," Ferdinand said.
"Jimmy has been in football a long time. He understands how football works."

Great write thanks Tramore. As someone on LOF commented, probably the best ever from Clive.

    An excellent piece.

....a playground nickname - we're probably about six months away from 'Hollowhead'.

Why wait that long, eh Ellers?

I did actually think it was a funny quote.
Clive either reads the forums or is a member on here under a different name.
I like Clives reports but sometimes he does talk cr2p. I found some bits really informative and other bits typical Impartial Clive. If he sits on the fence any further he will knock Gary Liniker off.
He must be after an invite to the annual TF Christmas ball. :emoticon-0127-lipss

He sits and picks IMO and rarely states the obvious that anyone could as it's written always post event

Maybe a piece laying out his ideas of a candidate or a pre match review would help him out.

I agree he says nothing much and if he is considered a reflection of QPR social media by the club then they can all enjoy a egg nog together.

Still i read it but firmly agree with the late Swords his bits are about him really and FFS it all goes on a bit

Just suggesting John Terry is beyond everything and sits where exactly? ... a free spirit against the club or a wind up for the posters who regularly read his toddle while crossing their legs tight, rocking and squirming like a would be Alan Bennett

Free posting is about crap on the fly, spelling mistokes the lot even CAPS ... is he TED?

I'm afraid these are my thoughts Ellers. I remember when Holloway first got the sack - i think we were mid table Division 1 - and I just thought, Holloway won't get us out of this division if he managed us for another 10 years. I loved him but it was time to get rid. We weren't the worst but we never looked like challenging on his watch. He got Blackpool up I know but he hasn't had much success in the championship with anyone else i don't think.

Feels like a retrograde and slightly desperate move by the club.

I hope I'm wrong of course.

Oldfield, Heesen and Barnes have all gone today, as the Official. Ollie wants his own.

That depends on his response. Either he will be infected by Olly's enthusiasm or he will want to know what's in it for him. We'd all love it if it were the former but somehow I doubt it. Rolling up his sleeves, busting a gut, dying for the cause - when has anyone ever described Sandro's contribution in those terms?

Yes but usually referencing from the last games ... let's see original stuff that predicts a Hoops win
