That's superb. Rickie is one of those players who was written off, but never quite wrote himself off. He worked himself up through the ranks. Jumped on bandwagon that was Southampton FC and rode with it, drove it often, and then took his chance as an England player like few others. There are England internationals who have had far longer careers who never shone so bright as Rickie did in that game and the few others he played in. I'm bound to say that he would have got a few more England caps had he stayed with SFC, but he'd had the most amazing rise, so who could quibble with the one error of leaving.
Just read elsewhere that Charlie's wife is due to give birth next weekend..............please wait for Sunday, please wait for Sunday or even Monday.....
Looks like I will be seeing Targett's gf a lot (no not in that way you dirty bastards) due to work. May try and get her to tell me more.

http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/14882957.Is_there_hope_for_Stephens_at_Saints_/?ref=rss Echo article discussing Stephens after his attention grabbing goal for the U21s. He is at the crossroads in his career where a decision has to be made about his future (though his contract doesn't run out till 2019). He is getting a lot of experience on loan, so it comes down to whether the club think he just needs experience or whether he will never be at our standard. Not suggesting his goal affects Saints opinion as they must know as much as they'll ever know by now.

I genuinely get tears in my eyes every time he turns to celebrate after the ball goes in. I last watched it on Friday when I was trying to explain to someone why I couldn't be bothered to watch the Scotland game. Vin
Not surprised. I once pocket-called him and he phoned back to check up and to ask if I meant to call him. He is *that* nice*. (I've intentionally called others and got less recognition... ) * - not sure if that makes him nice, or other people rude
Now there's a difference between the British and US culture. You'd have butt-dialled him if you had been from the USA.
I've kept a video of that England goal from the first opportunity I had to download one. Every once in a while I watched it, just to see his joy again. I'm that nerdy though that I found the Radio 5 broadcast of the match and recorded and kept the bit where he comes on for the last 20 minutes of the match. Commentators John Murray and Danny Mills went bonkers when he scored. It's lovely to listen to.
