Meanwhile on this side of the pond, the following stories have all been buried...
1. The homelessness charity Shelter reported that 120,000 children will spend this Christmas homeless, and that the new lower Tory benefit cap will end up impoverishing an estimated 319,000 children. If it wasn't obvious before, it's crystal clear now that Tory austerity policies end up economically punishing children for the "crime" of being born into poor families.

for highlighting this as the first item in that long list, HBIC.It is shameful, bordering on the morally bankrupt, that successive Governments have ignored the continual pleas for help from such groups as Save The Children, Barnardo, The Children's Society, Crisis, and Shelter, among scores of others.
When you see the depth of poverty that some of these kids are forced to endure, through no fault other than having been born to a mother who has nothing to give them other than her love, and when you contrast that with the spoilt-brat opulence of some media and sporting stars, it is truly sickening.
