for highlighting this as the first item in that long list, HBIC. It is shameful, bordering on the morally bankrupt, that successive Governments have ignored the continual pleas for help from such groups as Save The Children, Barnardo, The Children's Society, Crisis, and Shelter, among scores of others. When you see the depth of poverty that some of these kids are forced to endure, through no fault other than having been born to a mother who has nothing to give them other than her love, and when you contrast that with the spoilt-brat opulence of some media and sporting stars, it is truly sickening.
Some of the happiest people ive seen anywhere in the world are the poorest people though. Zimbabwe for example. Amongst the poorest people in the world. About the happiest ive ever seen.
I think where poverty is ingrained in a culture, as with most of the Third World Nations, there is less stigma attached to it, and there is that shared sense of everyone being in the same boat. It's more difficult in a supposed First World Country, such as the UK, for those suffering extreme poverty to feel that they belong to Society, and that will affect their sense of how happiness can be attained.
That's a fair point. I'm not saying it's a satisfactory so,ution though, but teaching positivity and focus on the right things can be a better solution than none, where none more tangible is available.
I was deliberately misreading in order to point out that Assange is evading trial for rape, and therefore not a nice guy either.
I know, I just wanted to repeat the David Duke KKK thing! Russia, North Korea and the Klan agree that he's a good bloke, so it must be true, right?
Kim Jong-Un and Trump are both cursed with ridiculous hair, not surprised they support eachother. What I'm saying is we need to lock up Boris Johnson before he also becomes an authoritarian dictator.
I think his dumbass Brexit move solved that problem for us, thankfully. Stabbed Cameron in the back, but failed to watch his own. please log in to view this image
Unfortunately, the way politics is going in western countries these days, all he needs to do is get stuck on another zip wire and insult some minorities and he'll be back in favour.
A lot of good stuff there HBIC I only chose to highlight that one because it always winds me up that it is apparently up to the Government to pay for or massively subsidise the largest projects of these so-called private industries. For our younger readers, many industries used to be owned by the state and that was deemed to be a bad thing so they were sold off at a fraction of their value to the private sector. However it seems those industries never really were completely private because what happens when a massive project is required - enter the taxpayer. Want a new nuclear power station, step in the Government. Want a new fast railway, step in the Government. Want a new runway at Heathrow, step in the Government. No argument that these projects will benefit the country as a whole, but a large proportion of the public investment will go to the owners of these industries - that used to be us. Of course the nationalised industries were often run badly, but nowhere near as badly as is now accepted to be the case. And when the East Coast rail franchise was rescued by the taxpayer from disastrous private ownership it actually made a huge profit for the taxpayer - before being returned to the private sector!
Trump's claims of the Presidential election being "Brexit+" are already looking accurate - given the pledges he's already reneging on. First was the backpedaling on sending Hillary to jail during his victory speech, now the pledge to ban Muslims from the United States has disappeared from his website - even though, just as the Tories and UKIP have discovered when they've tried the same thing, that stuff is easily found by using a web archive.
@humanbeingincroydon I think your concerns was succinctly answered by the late great Bill Hicks (in the first part of this clip):- What people forget amidst the media hysteria is the fact that the President of the USA is most definitely not the most power man in the World. He is nothing more than the puppet and plaything of the those who actually own America.
They're the poorest people for a reason! A reason called Mugabe. A good mate of mine comes from there. It used to be 'the garden of Africa. Now look at it...
