Ristac was talking about the english votes.

The numbers are here for you to see ... http://www.electoralcommission.org....u-referendum/electorate-and-count-information

If you're too lazy to tot it all up (call it an educated guess), then allow me to give you some numbers:

Eligible Electorate: 34,582,866
Votes cast (Remain): 13,266,996
Votes cast (Leave): 15,188,466
Turnout: 82% (or put another way, in order to get a 50/50 vote, you'd need to get 66% of the 6,127,464 non-voters voting Remain, & 33% voting Leave - no chance!).

Interestingly, Yorkshire & Humberside voted 58% to Leave (only East & West Midlands voted higher - 59% each). London only voted 40% to Leave. Perhaps you could emigrate there amongst like-minded people if they won't let you in to Spain :D )

As usual you make my point very well and taking your numbers as accurate.

What is 50%+1 of 34,582,866.
About 17,291,434 isnt it?
Is that more or less than 15,188,466?

For those who need a lesson in accepting defeat, the Democratic party today took one hell of a beating when they were 1/8 on to win big time. They have accepted eefeat gracefully without wanting a 2nd election

Everyone there knew they were voting for a crook it was largely irrelevent which one got in...

That's because they get an election in 4 years time so get a chance to reverse the decision.

And just as a reminder...

Nigel Farage warns today he would fight for a second referendum on Britain in Europe if the remain campaign won by a narrow margin next month.

The Ukip leader said a small defeat for his leave camp would be “unfinished business” and predicted pressure would grow for a re-run of the 23 June ballot.

Farage told the Mirror: “In a 52-48 referendum this would be unfinished business by a long way. If the remain campaign win two-thirds to one-third that ends it.”

chippy's referring to majority of who voted v majority of those eligible to vote.

I wasn't claiming i was right in my post, it was a light hearted comment about being a laughing stock amongst other nations. Which, to many people we are. Boris as foreign minister didn't help.

My cash is fine thanks.

I had a large bet on Trump at 10/3 and another even larger one at 10/11 at 2.30 this morning before the Ohio result came in.
The anti everything brigade are really doing a good job.

Sorry I never lumped on but just glad he won, always another chance in gambling that's crying out to be cained. <ok>

Oh, and I forgot to add for comparison, the english turnout percentages for the UK General Elections have not exceeded 65.8 since the 1997 election, so the Brexit Referendum was approximately a 25% higher turnout! :D

Ref: http://www.ukpolitical.info/Turnout45.htm

Correct Jock and as they said at the time that more voted in the EU Referendum than in any other GE in history, yet it's still not enough for those munching on their sour grapes. <doh> <ok>

Exactly. <doh> <ok>

Yeah just imagine how easily remain would have won by if honesty had prevailed and leaving the single market via hard brexit and not giving the nhs £350mill a week had been an option on the consultative ballot.

Rewind and think back to what the ballot paper said on the 2 voting options. <doh>

I spoke to LOTS of customers who all told me the same thing before the vote took place... They wanted to vote LEAVE but memos had been given out by their bosses stating leave might trigger job cuts. If these lies had not been told then the vote to leave would have been an even larger margin.

Lies on the remain side, who would have thought! <doh>

As people of principle and in these utopian post brexit days where jobs are ten a penny they have all resigned now i presume?
Thought not..... Stop making stuff up!
