People tend to be promoted to the point of incompetence. Growing with us could have been the better option, Ron.
And if you are high enough up the scale before your incompetence shows... No scrub that. At what ever level, if you know the right people once you're incompetence shows itself, you get kicked upstairs to a cosy place. Hopefully, none of that exists at Southampton. Everybody is perfectly competent and well suited.People tend to be promoted to the point of incompetence. Growing with us could have been the better option, Ron.

This is one of the best comments - "If Koeman hadn't been impersonating Judith Chalmers all summer we might have done something."
Les and the board put in so much good work that managing us must be a doddle and, although Saints' fans have standards, we also have a sense of proportion and will give you time.**He's getting found out big time now the Saints shield is off. Still, nice fat compo package to fall back on.
We cannot rewrite history though...we wanted Ron to stay, even recognising his faults (which we found amusing until he left... when they suddenly stood out like warts). Stek was a decent back up keeper for Saints but there was no way he'd be good enough to be number 1....that was correct. It's almost like we knew what we were talking about with Stek and RK. Who would have thought it.
Certainly not Tobes.

We did want him to stay, but certainly there was a group of us that weren't all *that* bothered if he went. I think it was widely recognised that our end position last season was more a reflection of the madness of that year, than Ron's particular managerial skills (he kinda got lucky in having to change the system because of injuries). I was sad he decided to go, but more the manner of his departure than the supposition we were losing some managerial giant.
