Defoe is probably one of the most natural finishers the premier league has ever seen since it started.

Defoe is the only player I have ever seen hit the big screen above the Chapel. From 6 yards out. Don't get me wrong, I agree he is a natural goalscorer; but his conversion rate has never been exactly exceptional. He needs plenty of chances to be sure he'll put one away. He's not Michael Owen.

That's the chance I was thinking about too. Was that first season back up and we lost 1-2?

Have to agree with the comments re. Defoe. Good finisher but still misses a lot of chances, probably why he wasn't great at international level... like Sturridge for example.

Definitely not in the top bracket in PL era - and I'm only talking out n out goalscorers here (so excluding Henry, Suarez etc.) Certainly not the level of Owen, Van Nistelrooy, Torres, Cole (and others)

I'd say he's at (or near) the top of that second bracket though.

And yet, we all know, if Ibrahimovic or someone like that had scored it, Sky Sports would be creaming themselves about it for weeks.
Indeed. And it's this which is so wrong about the presentation of football.

If a player from Grimsby Town scores a World class goal, make it the top of the sporting news, rather than a Premier League player picking his nose.

Don't think that Liverpool will win the league, but ye gods are they fun.

And how Moyes still has a job is beyond me. I'm not in the blame-the-manager-for-everything camp, but when you're ten matches in and have just two draws to your name (and have only led once all season: a two-goal lead against Palace that they blew) it's not working.
