What did everyone think of him today? I thought him and Cork looked like a potentially brilliant pairing in midfield. I think Adkins made the right choice.

    Oh, and cracking goal too.

I have to write that I was of the opinion that Hammond might struggle in the Championship; let me make the point that I am not a Hammond-knocker; but I thought he might not have the pace - physically and mentally to make the grade. I am so happy to have been proven wrong - great display and he, like so many of the squad, looks in superb condition.

Think Adkins has got them all playing as a team and for each other. I'm sure the whole squad feel that he deserves that goal, not just for today but for the effort he puts in every game.

I think he was fantastic, and so was Jack Cork and Richard Chaplow when he came on. Didn't really see much of Morgan, but I think it's fair to say we have strength and depth in the centre of midfield!

Did you mean to put Dead Hammond in the title?

Top drawer. Most people previously favoured Morgan but I think he will have to work very hard to earn a place right now. Saying that we were overrun in the middle a couple of times, hence appearance of a bald head.

I am a great fan of morgan and have criticised hammond in the past but today he was magnificent as was our whole midfield. They were four against five and they were the better. Lambert worked hard but did not always get the service he needed.

It would have been good to have seen Alex play against this very robust Leeds side then he would have been better able to judge whether he is ready for the Premier league (I think not but he is influenced by others).

PS My half time flask of bovril was cold and my jam sandwich was stale!

You really shouldn't prepare the half time picnic so early or go for vichysoisse and sushi.

Thought Hammond and Cork totally bossed the middle of the park - tigerish in the tackle and peerless distribution....and they didn't half put a shift in. The whole team looked suberbly conditioned, bodes well for the future

Being slightly sad and a little bored I just googled "dead hammond" to see what came up (just some stuff about some dead people called hammond). Interestingly though, apprently the name Hammond comes from the Norse language and means "High protection". Check it http://www.surnamedb.com/Surname/Hammond

I need to do something now and prove to myself I have a life...

The midfield was great today - De Ridder didn't see much of ball, probably because Kisnorbo seemed intent on pulling his shirt off. Would like to see him start on tuesday night. Not sure why some people are slating Martin - He was a bit dodgy in the first half, but a lot of the time he was put under pressure from stupid passes from Harding. Second half he saved a certain goal with a great last ditch challenge and looked a bit more composed.

I can't believe you did that! As you can't change a title once done, I think we'll just call him Dead Hammond from now on.

Huh...I thought my surname was one of the only ones that came from Norse... :emoticon-0102-bigsm

My ancestors and his must have brought the names here when the Vikings invaded Britain and raped our women <laugh>
