I agree he needs time. Just saying on current showing he looks bad. With De Gea i always rated him but he still has the same issues he had when he first came, mainly he's not that commanding (he's better at it now). He was always a good shot stopper but now he's turned into a worldie at saving shots and has a present about him in 1 on 1s.
The problem is (not exactly a problem for the team), he hasn't had an opportunity to make a save, we have been mostly dominant in the games he has played in, the goals he has conceded, he didnt have a chance, the chances he has coughed up haven't resulted in a goal, its a strange situtation, he needs to prove him self Sums up my opinion really, he hasn't been really tested in a shot stopping capacity, the goals we have conceded, he has had no chance with. Fortunately non of his errors have cost us a goal, if we had conceded every time he coughed up a chance, i think opinion would be more against him. Whats the saying "its better to be lucky than good"?
That ans the few times he caught the ball and ran to the edge of the box and rollled out to a player to get on attack. That's where his strength is. Crossing he's just s bad as mugs and we've not seen him save anything yet as haven't needed to. Said I'd on the day, if he'd pulled off 5 saves before we'd have conceded from the corner, no one would be as critical.
I, and a few others, have been saying this since his first couple of games, but we've been condemned as traitors for not being unquestioningly loyal despite the evidence of our eyes. My loyalty is to the club, not individual players, so if I see a flaw I'll say so. I'm not writing him off, I'm not saying dump him - just that so far he's been disappointing because we were expecting an immediate and significant upgrade on Mig and we haven't got it yet. To be fair to Karius, I can't remember him having the opportunity to make a decent save yet, so we still don't know about his shot-stopping ability.
Klopp has spoken 100% now so theres no point any more debate on one starting v other. As of now the lad better have the balls to pick himself up and keep going when he flogs one.. its coming. I remember westerveld could play for 10 games perfect then go make one error and then couldnt kick catch or punch for rest of game.. just even one poor clearig kick and he was done.
Klopp's comments suggest he's giving Karius the De Gea treatment; rusty start but time will see him come good. Only time will tell. What we do know is Migs' time is up.
Probably. He signed a 5 year deal and what 8 months? Later he is a sub. He has to say **** this or dig in and wait to be told to go but it zounds like itd take a monumental set of **** ups for him to get a start in the league.
It was clear Klopp wanted a replacement. If it turns out Karius doesn't make the grade, we'll be looking again. I thought the new contract was just to keep Mig's price up.
Can't see us replacing Karius any time soon. Earliest he'll move on (should he prove to be ****) will be summer of 2018 imo
