I wasn't talking about things 24 years ago. I was comparing the 24 years following my first interest in football withnrpthe experience ofvsomeone whose first interest was the first season of the PL. When I was first interested a lot of teams always thought they were in with a chance at the start of the season. Wolves won the league, Burnley, Ipswich and Derby did. Liverpool had done nothing for decades and came through. Man Citynwon the league for the first time since the 1930s. Leeds who had never done a thing since their formation were in the running every season. Blackburn and Leicester doing a one off withn4 other clubs monopoling it and 10 less clubs winning the Cup The point I was making that things won't change and it will get more interesting. It is now like the countries we said were a closed shop. Though Germanynand Spain have had as many different clubs win the title in the same period I think. Don't know the answer, The suggestion of 2 leagues of ten playing each other 4 times certainly isn't it.
They should make international competitions much bigger. The World Cup should include every single footballing nation in qualifying across the world in knock out format, so that there are only 32 teams to enter the group stages. So England might have to play Tuvalu or Guam in the first game, yes they'd have to travel. Or, just scrap international breaks altogether (we really don't need them every 3 weeks) and play all qualifiers over the Summer period. You could easily fit two games a week in for five weeks, especially as some of the games would be against pish teams like San Marino. There should also be a domestic Summer tournament once every few years when there's no internationals. All 4 countries in the UK enter their teams in their professional leagues (or top two divisions) into a huge tournament, so City might end up playing Stenhousmuir, Portadown or TNS. Man U might have to make the perilous trip to Arbroath. To decide which team is the best in the UK. Something different.
Sports like tennis are not team sports so are different. Australia dominates Aussie rules, Ireland dominates hurling, no one gets near the Yanks at grid iron. Domestic leagues in sports are a bit different.
The trouble form me is that the football itself seems to be a sideshow of the off field shenanigans. It just overshadows the football
I have a better: idea.0 points for a win. 0 for a draw. 0 for a loss. then we can get relegated season after season. collecting our parachute payments season after season. I kinda thought that any team can beat anyone in PL.. a top team might gave a bad day, is taken down to 10 men - but all that is over if putter has his way
The top 4 teams should be relegated not the bottom 4. That way they'd have an easy season and could concentrate on winning the Champions League. The bottom 4 should get ALL the TV money and pick of any players in the teams finishing in placesome 5 to 8 there by ensuring the finish top and get relegated the following season to concentrate on Europe. The 4th tier should play with fly goalies and 3 and your in rules.
Like i said tikki taca or whatever you wanna call it bores me. Germany manage to entertain without 60 passes before scoring or shooting.
Great idea , I can't remember who won the title last season but I'm sick of the same old teams winning every series. Also I can't remember the last time we beat title holders .
When the plan is put in place some teams will be in the top half due to very recent performances and given elite status for years to come.I am thinking about Leicester and Southampton who would not have been in this false tier a few years back. Look where Blackburn Fulham Newcastle are now.If this crazy plan was adopted a few years ago they would probably be sitting pretty in this protected bubble elite league. Its not that long ago that both Manchester clubs and also Chelsea were not in the top league in the country.
