William Wilberforce pub AKA Lloyds is shut now.
Wonder what will go in there? Hope it doesn't stand empty for yonks.

It's shut down as Wetherspoons have been "rationalising" their estate. Hence Zach's also shutting down.
You'd imagine some other PubCo will snap it up - rather that than it standing empty I suppose. It's in a good position, you'd imagine it won't stay empty long.
He says, with blind optimism...
Didn't they lodge a planning application to use the upper floor(s) as a hotel? Not certain whether it was approved.Be good to get a big restaurant in there perhaps.
Prime spot, nice building.

The last time I went in the Yates in Manchester it had a pole dancing pole! Very enjoyable to watch the ladies pissed up giving it a go!Really? Good news that, the last Yeats, near the Cenotaph, closed years ago not sure why, usually visit a Yates when in Manchester or Liverpool, similar to a Wetherspoons in a way. A wine bar maybe, but which Lloyds do you mean is being taken over?
My Yates story is betterLast Yates I was in was in Leeds, on that busy road. Got a pint of some bitter which tasted like what I expect a mouthful of dirt to taste like.
Informed the staff that their beer tasted like dirt, they agreed and refunded me and gave me a free pint of summut else.
Can't grumble at that.
The other pint tasted fine, BTW.

Regarding litter, I hate to claas-ist but it tends to be the benefits class that are the worst culprits - whether from poor upbringing, lack of self pride, or because they don't really contribute to the cost of cleaning it up. The exception to this is smokers who universally seem to think that the floor is an ashtray.
I think the best option is to use community wardens to catch people and make them do 10 hrs litter picking rather than fine them. They will be less likely to do it again and more likely to stop friends/ family littering if they've had to pick it up.
As for Lloyds/Wilberforce I really hope they put something in with a bit of character reflecting the 'old town' rather than a bland chain pub.
