I'm not buying it sorry.

Malta are ****. Simple as. A half decent side can keep the ball against Malta. Keeping the ball away from Maltese players should be a piece of piss for our highly paid tossers.

The tricky bit is getting the ball in the net and once again our sorry lot find it very hard to do so.

I'm more level headed against decent oppo like in the next game but we should be spanking Malta.

I am not saying Rooney doesn't deserve to be dropped, as I think he does. But this is more about Southgate dropping him to show he has balls. Whether he would have done it without all the rhetoric from the media is another question.

It looks a bit of a strange decision after publicly defending him to be honest.

The stats and stuff from the other day seem to suggest he had a much better game than the notoriously hysterical England fanbase make out, but it's a different type of game. Slovenia may try to attack us a little bit more than Malta did, so maybe he wants Dier in there to win the ball back more, whereas he knew Malta wouldn't ever really have the ball and so we didn't need an enforcer. At the Euros I thought the Dier/Rooney/Alli midfield 3 was about right, but Henderson is on top form now so he commands a place and the final one is therefore between Rooney and Alli.

A symbol of all that is wrong with modern day football.

Actually I think it's the over hyped over paid primadonnas who play for England that are what is wrong with modern day football.....I actually think supporting a team where the players do their best because of the pride in playing for the badge is better than supporting England where playing is just another ego boost for them.....no pride or passion

Certainly expect Dier to be back in, and Ali seems to be the future in that number 10 position, so basically there doesn't seem to be room for Rooney, even if he was playing well, as at the moment he is only playing so-so.

As I said before the Maltesers game he should have dropped Rooney then to show he was in charge. Doing it now looks like he's pandering to media opinion

I'm sure nobody really gives a ****, but the Faroes are currently on Sky Sports 1, they're playing Portugal. And losing 1-0 :emoticon-0101-sadsm

Regardless of the tax avoidance, what has he ever done in the game to justify being in such an elevated position? For me he's mediocre, then again so are England.
I was having breakfast at St Georges Park once, and Southgate was having his breakfast at the next table.
He was very pleasant, and wasn't a messy eater

Admittedly that may not be a great CV for England manager, but it gives me the chance to tell my only Southgate anecdote!

(The Under 21's were also breakfasting...they looked messier)

Yeah......give him some more money to fiddle the tax man with !! To me the tax avoidance puts him in the same league as Allardyce & he should not be considered for the job

Are you not going to listen to music by, or watch films and TV involving those who have been involved in legal tax avoidance?

Tax avoidance... who gives a ****. We'd all do it if we had the means.

Some get awfully worked up about it. Although a lot, including a Labour bloke ranting about it at the recent Labour Party conference, are unable to distinquish between tax avoidance, legal, and tax evasion, illegal.
I think basically it boils down to if it is done by Tories and footballers it is evil beyond belief but if it is done by lefties and luvvies it is perfectly acceptable.
