Going to take two in the Irish Cesarewitch tomorrow at Curragh 4.55. Swamp Fox 7/1 - the form horse of this race, he's been winning with relative ease in his races over hurdles and on the flat. He stays very well and that will see him go very close from the front. Prickly 20/1 - returned from a lay off to win easily at Killarney over 14 furlongs and has since raced twice over hurdles travelling powerfully before fading out...returned to the flat I still think he's well treated here and with Killian Leonard taking 5lb off I expect Prickly will go close to landing this if he can last home well enough. 1 pick for the Munster National in Limerick at 4.40. Bit of a lottery as usual with Gigginstown throwing the kitchen sink at it as has become habit with big handicaps lately. Hard to ignore the form of Henry De Bromhead right now and his On Fiddlers Green 9/1 should be finely tuned for a tilt here. His last 4 starts have been really progressive and he could be in the mix if getting some luck hunting around.
Potters Corner in the 2 50 Chepstow -this has halved in price and from a shrewd outfit I think they must be having a go -plenty of course experience and surely will bustle up bunters fancy .....both previous runs at Chepstow have been winning ones -seems a horse on the up to me
Some Chepstow fancies: 2.15 Rainbow Dreamer 2.50 Vieux Lille 4.00 Sire De Grugy 4.30 Mirsaale 5.00 Rocky Creek 6.00 Barbrook Star Best of luck everyone
Morning all - review of yesterday on the blog - http://nassauboard.blogspot.co.uk/ . I'd be against Sire all day long today, much prefer the younger horses in Voix D'eau and Art Mauresque (latter my selection). I can't believe Irish Cavalier is as short as he is either. That Veteran's Chase is NH racing at its best, so many old boys who have loads to give for connections. Really good card again.
Also just read that Henry Brooke is in an induced coma, hopefully he recovers and gets well soon. Hard sport.
Not good news . Best of luck and wishes to all involved. I wonder weather the top man heis will be involved at anypoint or has any news on the situation.
15:45 Goodwood - Ice Age e/w (at generally available 10/1). Best wishes to Henry Brooke for a quick and full recovery. NH riders are the bravest of the brave, and to call them a derogatory name such as 'saddle monkey' is sickening and not a bit funny.
In that ol boys race at Chepstow I'm surprised Your Busy is the rank outsider at 25s. He seems to run every week so unlike most of his opponents he will be ready to race. Still retains some ability too based on his close second in the Killarney National back in the summer. Good ground a plus too. Ran in this last year getting placed but is lower in the weights today and a good claimer taking another 3 off. I'll risk a bit ew with 8 in the field.
Best wishes to Henry Brooke, shows yet again NH jockeys risk life and limb every day to earn their keep. They are definitely wired up wrongly Some proper racing from Cheppy and Limerick today. Woodford Island in the last at Limerick at 3/1 is the bet of day.
Afternoon super troopers. Some decent horsey action to get our teeth into both sides of the water. Two wagers for moi this afternoon. Tough looking card at the Curragh but I can't desert and old fav of mine in Pyromaniac in 4.55 for Gangsta Martin. He ran a cracker on Irish Champions day at Ltown and was pipped by stable companion Quick Jack so we know the horse is in decent form( 5lb raise negated by jockey claim).Martin has proved the man to side with in these staying hcaps this season and even though 11/2 is short enough for such a big field Im hoping Martin can do the business here again. Over at Limerick the one that catches my eye is A Decent Excuse in 3.35. This lad is has hit the bar in his last two runs and comes here 13lbs lower than his chase mark. The danger is Ruby's mount Tristram Shady but he might find the distance a little to sharpe so hopefully ADE will pounce and strike a furlong out and oblige. The Munster national is a minefield so won't be playing.I did get a tip his morning for Tiger Roll at 33/1 but can't be having it.Story goes that a taxi driver picked up Elliot and dropped a tenner off the fare if he gave him a tip so said to back Tiger Roll!has it all today in my opinion which is exactly what Elliot said in the RP today!
Bagad Bihoue is upped markedly in class in the Persian War but was on the upgrade in the summer as he improved with experience. Trip is right for him and he really started to settle in his races. I'd like him to win this and progress into a useful hurdler.
Kapstadt 3.25 Chepstow 7/1 Second in the listed hurdle at Market Rasen last month and has won since. Starting to climb the handicap but has been in good form and the only one in here with race fitness.
