If your vote doesn't count, then neither does mine, nor those of the other 44.7 million electors. Strewth, how are these ****s getting elected?

It's west of Spermany, and north of Pain and Fortugal.

You're not complaining Uber because it means the Tory party gets a majority with 37% of the popular vote. Or 22% of the those 44.7 million electors you mentioned.

What makes you think I'd vote for Chairman May and her gang?

Care to be more specific Col?

Didn't you say how wonderful May's conference speech was? Is it bollocks to disagree?

Well Col it must be a rosy future for you as the leaves democratically won and I accept that but I believe here are silly times ahead and the U.K. Has never been so divided or ill equipped to deal with this
I cannot see a smooth transition and the British bulldog dissapearing 35 years ago

You know what, Paul, as a 'Leave' voter I have to admit that I agree with you on the point about the UK being ill-equipped to deal with this. To qualify this, I believe that the calibre of politician in this country, of any livery, has never been so poor as we have today. I see no real conviction politicians other than the clowns on the periphery of things and the geography teacher, but he strikes me as inept anyway. I really hope that Chairman May delivers a 'proper' Brexit, but of course what the hell does that look like? Are we divided? Perhaps we are; I find myself wondering whether there really is a silent majority and, if so, how big it is and to what extent it is buying into the myriad significant changes happening to the country, inevitable and irresistible that they no doubt are.

    Cup of tea, anybody?

It will all be okay as the EU will collapse in the near future.

What pisses me off is that every politician you hear has a very certain view on what the referendum result meant, when actually it is far from clear. When those of us who voted Remain made our mark we knew exactly what we were voting for, but it seems to me those who voted Leave had many different reasons for doing so. Of course all Leave voters weren't racist, but very many were, and our unelected Prime Minister seems to have decided that they are the constituency to which she should pander.

If you are going to pander to someone then I suppose it's best to pander to the biggest group

Matthew Parris wrote a very good (from my perspective) comment piece in the Times yesterday, which crystallised my discomfort at the moment. Theresa May and Amber Rudd et al have clearly decided that their constituency is those people who are fed up with things, have grievances and see their lives as a struggle against unseen forces which they resent. Those who are more aspirational, opportunity seeking, self reliant and forward looking, those who create and control wealth, ideas etc are not being included, indeed they are being attacked if they don't toe the line, as 'citizens of nowhere'. Perhaps this is fair enough, the former group have lacked a voice forever. The irony of course is that May and her ilk are obviously from the elite which they are attacking. Parris' conclusion, that liberal, free trade conservatives should knuckle under and support her, thankfully doesn't apply to me.

I'm finding it uncomfortable and unpleasant. Although I didn't feel like I was having everything my own way for my entire life, comparatively I probably was. It's probably good for me. Of course at the end of the day, the small but overly influential elite will still be in control and those driven by resentment will still find someone to resent, even after we've got rid of the EU and foreigners.

Just a shame that no effort is being made to bring a divided country together, compromise is not on the agenda.

I see trendy Tory think tank strategist Steve Hilton has mockingly suggested that foreign workers should have a number tattooed on their forearms. Don't be silly Steve, armbands are much more practical as a first step. And 'Dr' Fox has threatened to sue the EU if the 36 free trade agreements it has are not automaticallly rolled over for the U.K. once we leave. If this is his opening negotiating gambit, his bottom line must be war.

I think the government are acting as you'd expect from their position - formed on the back of a Brexit vote which managed to tap into a much wider voting audience, they're not necessarily trying to speak for the Tory vote from the last election rather than speak for the leave voters (as they see them).

The Conseratives will win the next election, find that the turnout will not be noticeably higher that previous ones and they'll revert to their normal (pre referendum) stance.

There's no evidence that "very many" Leave voters were racist. Very many may have been concerned about uncontrolled immigration from the EU which is a different thing. Of course, you get the odd nutter or teenage gang that are looking for victims.

It's interesting that the country having the biggest problem with unrest over immigration currently is ultra liberal Sweden. There was a concerning program on BBC News 24 last night detailing this, and The Sunday Times have covered the same issue today. There have been a number of killings of innocent people by immigrants in Sweden recently which hasn't helped, but the biggest problem is Muslim enclaves into which the Swedish police are too fearful to enter. Sweden have supplied more terrorists travelling to join ISIS than any other EU country. Unsurprisingly, Sweden is seeing a rise of the far right.

I don't believe that Goldhawk! 52% of the voting population are uneducated bigots. It said so on Facebook so it must be true. Just like what some of the 48% also flooded Facebook with: "I believe in democracy that's why we should overall the vote in Parliment" <yikes>

Surely by bringing up the Swedish situation in connection to a point about the EU referendum you are making the very connection that Nigel Farage wanted voters to make when he brought out his shameful poster during the referendum Goldie? Free movement of labour within the Single Market is a very different thing to refugees coming from the Middle East and Africa. Recent statements from May and Rudd seem to be aimed at the far right in this country.
